I am soooooo Jealous! It sounds like it was a great ride and that their was plenty of fun/suffering for all. I would have liked to bring the entire BFNWMC crew to the ride but we decided that the 8-9 hour drive (each way) would have made for a very long day. Although we will be in full force at the HHH in two weeks.
I also had a good local ride planned the Harbor Springs Classic. A fun Metric with a great BBQ and pool party afterwords. As my luck would have it Customs cleared my summer shipment and I spent all day unloading a 40ft Container and organizing a warehouse instead.
So keep the post coming so I can ride vicariously through you

I want to thank CyLowe for organizing this ride. This course is awesome. I plan on riding it several times in the future to prepare challenge rides. I am always conservative when climbing hills because I am always afraid that I may have to walk up a hill and I refuse to walk up a hill. So when I got to Barlow I took it as hard as I could and I felt great afterwards. Once again, thank you CyLowe for this ride.

what a great weekend. for me this was the best weekend of cycling i have experienced. great weather. well organized rides. good people. all mixed with a little pain & suffering.
despite a 4:15am wake up call and 6 hours of windshield time this ride rocked it. CyLowe did a fantastic job of organizing it. i think we hit every major climb that the HHH tackles and then some.
my random thoughts:
- it was cool to see everyone there & geared up as we rolled the BFNIC mini van into the back parking lot of Uphill Grind.
- Pinnacle Rd brought back some quality suffering memories for me.
- Observatory then Barlow....who thinks up this sick sh*t.
- much thanks to Chances for reminding me i needed to tackle Barlow.
- i really like bicycles and coffee.
- cyclpsycho is the man.
- this ride was totally Taser Worthy

I had to threaten to demean and chastise recursive at every future chance if he didn't climb Barlow.
He looked at his pink bracele and figured out that would not do to be so demeaned and chastised by a j.v. level rider like me, so thus he climbed Barlow.

The switchback technique I learned earlier from Cylowe made it a walk in the park.

Finally got MotionBased to take the upload. What's surprising is the max - the curves confirm that I crossed 50 a couple of times. The stated max on the upload is 56.3 right on Sutclife.

Schweeeet!!!!
You really need to descend Barlow. You might get near 60.
What else did folks have for max speeds? Post them!
Mine were: 51.5 down Sutcliffe, 49.0 on a section of Mineral Point (just glancing while in motion), and then 53.0 on Barlow (the headwind was holding me back there... ). I'm pretty sure I freaked out Chances when I came flying by on his right at the bottom of the big Barlow hill just before it dips back up for the first time.
The downhill on County F from Brigham Park down to County J was the most fun, though, since it is several miles long.

the pure data from mr garmin had me topping out at 49.4 mph. the uploaded and adjusted data from MB had me at 57 mph or something like that. with my descending skills i tend to lean towards the 49.4 being the correct number. anyway you look at, 50 mph on a bike is faaaaaassssst!
later.
later.

Thanks for bringing that taser video back to life. My kids love that one. They love to see dad scream like a little girl. Had to spend some time on youtube looking for people yelling louder than me. Wife made the mistake of walking by to see what we were watching. She was not happy. She had never seen that video before and was not happy I took the hit in the first place and is even more upset because I still have the video.
Oh well

I managed 47.3 mph down Sutcliff-that's pretty good for me. I had to cut my ride on Sunday short so I didn't get to do Barlow. I don't anticipate hitting that speed during the HHH- too many people (on tri bikes) riding their brakes!
