One of my bikes is headed north to Chicago and Milwaukee - I will follow in a week
This morning the ones that I love (my wife, my sons, and my Curtlo) headed up I-75 while I stayed back in Gainesville, FL. I'm flying into Midway next Saturday to meet up with my family in the Beverly area on the far Southside of Chicago.
There is ZERO chance of a ride on Saturday, but I am a very early riser so I can take off from my sister's house (approx. 97th and Prospect) early on Sunday morning. Anyone that lives around there interested in a riding partner for an early Sunday morning ride? I saw a loop somewhere on the web that went down Longwood and crossed the Cal-Sag on Halsted and included a stretch on Vermont. I know those roads and they seem OK trafficwise for an early Sunday morning. If anyone is interested drop me a PM. I can adjust my riding schedule to make it anything from a recovery ride to a sufferfest.
On that Sunday the plan is to go up to Milwaukee. To be precise, Shorewood. I will be looking for weekday rides all week. Any chance of a Hipcycler sighting? What are the options for a "ride from your house 30 to 50 mile ride"? Also, are there any evening "hammerhead" rides within easy cycling distance?
Please don't tempt me with a ride anywhere near Waterford. Next Friday's paycheck will include a bonus that would cover a custom S3 frame and fork nicely. Unfortunately I have gotten a "new to me" bike within the last year and so any additional purchase would violate the family "only one g**d*mn new bike per year" rule. It is the ugly corollary to the n+1 rule.

Well I was going to say I have several rides that leave from my driveway. But my driveway is in Waterford and I ride a Waterford. So I guess those rides are out.

Hip is a 10 to Noon-ish kinda guy on the weekdays, but he posts enough that I'll let him cover that.
My weekday rides usually start at 8-9 at night out in Waukesha, so I'm guessing that's out. For Hammerfests, I'd suggest the Wednesday night ride out at Bike Doctor. Its a drive from Shorewood, but probably the biggest hammerfest around (well, that and the Saturday Morning Drop the Doc ride from the same place, but you said weekdays). Definitely worth the drive.
Monday nights is a "recovery" ride from Crank Daddy's, which would be closer for you in Shorewood.
Other than that, I'll have to leave the guidance to someone up on the northshore, or maybe downtown, as they will have a better idea of local rides to Shorewood.

A couple of years ago I missed out on an Ebay Waterford complete bike that would have fit me well with S&S couplers only because I forgot about it and didn't remember until it was too late. Maybe someday.

RJ (Rainbow Jersey) should have rides on the east side ... same for the other shops. Plus UWM has a team ... should be no problem hooking up with some groups ... phone the east side shops. Either that or just cruise Lake Drive ... lots of bikers on that route.
