The Green Eyed Monster

Has struck....

My Sgt. The guy I bought my Pinarello from just got his new dream bike. A Colnago C50 Jet, loaded to the freaking gills. Bike weighs 14.8 pounds and is stunning. The paint scheme is quite unique and I now officially hate the man. He rides the 4 miles to work every day and parks it next to his desk just to make me envious every time I walk by. He bought the bike from Sammy's in St. Charles and dropped over 10K with the set up he has. Record carbon everywhere. Carbon tubulars, bar etc..I'll get a pic in the next day or two. Traded in his 14 year old master light for this beauty.

I hate that man, especially since I haven't rode in over 2 weeks with no prospect in the immediate future.

Wow.... 14.8lbs.. that's light! So he commutes on such an expensive bike? I would never bring myself to commute on my nice race bike, but then I cross some neighborhoods in the south-east side of Chicago where I had some not so nice run-ins with the local population.

Forgot to take my camera in today so no pics until next week. Yes he commutes on it. Hasnt raced in years and only rides for fun. He's a little impulsive and isnt afraid to spend $$$ when he gets a wild hair. Sammy showed me a new Casatti he was building and told me I could use it for a day or two to take to work and park next to the Colnago. I said no thanks.

He took a pic for me since I was in training today Hence the poor photo not up to Bike Forums photo shoot procedure, (no white garage door etc.).

Oh my, where to start... flip it, cut stem, align crank, too many decals, no white garage door

But I do like the color scheme!

You can't mess with a masterpiece! Ernesto want everyone to know who's bike your riding. And the chainrings, just the way I like um, but I assure you, I use them all!

Compact.....

BTW - stopped by Bicycle Heaven today where the topic of conversation turned to this exact bike. Ara was well aware of it and heard the final price tag ended up over $13,000.

Thank him for supporting cycling and LBSs for me the next time you see him.

It's my bike, and it did not cost me 13,000. It might retail at that, but I paid a few thousand less.. Bicycle heaven knows nothing about this bike.....Sammy has one similar, maybe they were thinking of his.

They were talking about one almost identical to this that Sammy sold recently. Yours or not. FWIW I challenged the $13,000 right off the bat - mentioning the $10 that Kimbercop mentioned here and he just said, "that's what I was told."

All these guys deal with exactly the same reps and other industry guys and it's a small industry. What happens in one shop travels quickly to the next. I'm assuming he heard it from one of the reps.

Yea, it was still big bucks, but like a fellow colnago owner told me "you ride what you can afford". Take it for what it's worth

Fixed that for ya. Even over $10K it's still a lot less than other hobbies.

BTW - now you have to ride with us.

We're leaving tomorrow afternoon to go to Wisconsin to ride 200K with over 12,000ft of climbing. Last I heard there was still open entries available.

Check the thread: https://www.bikeforums.net/great-lakes/433551-dairyland-dare-august-16-2008-a.html

Apart from that we ride every Tuesday night out in Barrington Hills.https://www.bikeforums.net/great-lakes/412649-barrington-hills-penny-road-pub-tuesday-night-ride-thread.html

Also there is a sticky on the top of this forum that lists the BFNIC rides (Bike Forums Northern Illinois Chapter) for the year (not really up to date anymore though).

Any century within easy driving distance usually has a few of us at - not to mention our annual organized rides that we put on in the area: BFNIC Spring Classic out of New Glarus, The Double or Nothing out of Cross Plaines rn the day before the Udder, and my Psimet Invitational century out Hampshire usually towards the end of September.

If you've done any event in the last few years then odds are you've ridden with at least some of us.

Sammy is nuts. Anybody who's never been there needs to stop by. Last time I was in there he wouldn't let me leave until I had ridden a few VERY expensive bikes... and I made it pretty clear I was just in to drool.

Heres the more traditional BF picture involving the white garage door. Again, forgive his ignorance of BF picture formating as he has yet to learn the proper BF pose. Big chainrig, airvalves hidden etc. This was apparently taken prior to the final cutting of the steer tube.
