you took some great pics. i have never read through the race rules, but do they really say that only the lead rider can sprint? later.

MJH2 and I are going to make the call in the morning. If it's bad rain for race time then no go. If we go up there though....we're racing...

No, but i don't like road rash...especially for 20th place.

That's just me.

You didn't see it...these guys were going crazy and swerving all over the road....for 20th place....and this was right after a big crash in the 3/4 sprint that sent a guy to the hospital when he landed on his face....with no ambulance there or medical personnell. Took minutes for the ambulance to come.

....and then these cat 5's go crazy for 20th place and dump 3 of them as well.

You've discovered my secret.

I make it rain.

Now we know how you roll.

Psimet2001 04-19-09 06:09 AM

We're going. Looks like only 10%-30% rain chance during our races. Heading out now.

Masters 4/5 pics?

Anyone have any more pics of Masters 4/5? I STILL have never seen a race pic of myself. I finished 5th in and I ride for IS Corp. I typically tailgun so you might see me in a photo at the back.

Thanks people!

Mr. Burns

My .02 since I shoot a lot of pictures: I usually stop shooting after the first 10 riders because the view is probalby obscurred by other riders and you're probably just riding on the tops, relaxed (how boring :D ) If you really want a nice picture of yourself racing (goes for anyone) - get to the front and take a nice hard pull. String out the pack and you'll get noticed, believe me. :)

it had been a while since i tested my legs against anyone, so i wasn't sure how i compared. i realized this isn't cyclocross and riding off the front is much, much harder on the road with a little bit of wind.

also, i volunteered to corner guard, and raced for free. i think this contributed to me not caring about throwing the race away, as i didn't have a long drive/race fee invested in it.

at least i got a good workout, and learned myself something...

the best way to explain my riding yesterday... now where are my pictures? another bonus to this is that strangers will cheer for you if you take a solo flyer.

snip, snip, snip

haha, yeah, that's me (recursive i think he was joking...). thanks! i look like a fool in the first one, and i have a sly grin in the second one - i must have been making an evil scheme.

small fields today, and i think everyone had raced yesterday that showed up. i'm glad noone with fresh legs showed up and sniped my win. to think that i had second thoughts about showing up.

luckily my winning move was followed by another rider b/c i started to pop with quite a ways to go, i slowed up a bit and looked back at him, then he came around i sat in and recovered for a bit.

racing won't be the same in the cat 3s with an ISCorps jersey on my back.

recursive 04-19-09 05:00 PM

I had a good but cold day today. Thanks for the arm warmers psimet.

Tim(?) someone lapped the meager field in the 3s solo(!), but I won the field sprint, getting second overall, and winning a crapload of gels.

not tim (can't remember last name) from velotrocadero that was the biggest sandbagger in cyclocross tim, is it?

congrats. i too have many hammer gels, probably just enough to make me never want another raspberry hammer gel for a while.

-edit-
hmm.. i wonder how it would be on vanilla ice cream?

recursive 04-19-09 05:28 PM

Yeah, he was a trocadero guy. I don't know cross, but I heard he races cross too.

take one raspberry and one chocolate at the same time for a new and delightful experience. later.

John Wilke 04-19-09 06:15 PM

Technically, he's not a sandbagger on the road because he didn't race that much last year, only four times to Recursive's nine:

Jason Boynton Endeavour Cycling 387
Brian Kaker Beans & Barley 325
Lyle Hanson Great Dane Velo Club 287
Chris Hurst Baraboo Sharks 253
Adam McClurg Lakes Area Physical Therapy 238
Mitch Gantz Baraboo Sharks 229
Tom Theisen Endeavour Cycling 169
Jason Svaldi Great Dane Velo Club 132
Tim Pacholski Velo Trocadero 126

http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_3020.jpg

But he was a sore spot in 'cross world because he won every single 3's race in 2008 taking the overall with 302 pts to second place's 145. You can't fault him for being fast though!

Wasn't that Recursive talking about rain just yesterday? And wait, wait a minute ...
what team are you on again?

http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_3026.jpg

And it got uglier for the 2's race:

http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...2/IMG_3067.jpg

and so bad for the 6 women in the last race that I didn't even hang around. There were no spectators, just USCF officials and course workers and my camera had enough water for one day, it wasn't acting quite right, but 6 of them did line up. Props to them!

More pix in a bit when my shoes dry out and I get my other camera in from the car.

timmyquest 04-19-09 06:19 PM

I regret nothing.
