I noticed a lot of Porsche's in town for Tour of Elkhart Lake... all with Ill. plates.

Memorial Day at RA is a huge time for Porsche club.

Haven't decided what I'll race, 4/5's or masters 35+. Probably 4/5's.

I'll be in the Cat 3 race at Road America.

I'll probably also be racing Wednesday. Not sure yet as the schedule keeps changing.

I'm racing Road America and the Greenbush Road Race which is Thursday.

Yep. Rahsaan is arriving today. He and four Bahati Foundation riders are staying with one of my teammates! They will be here until next Wednesday from what I've been told.

From the frantic phone calls and emails I've been getting about host housing, sounds like a lot of teams are popping in last minute. Pro Women's field is going to be big, full teams from Bianchi, Team Card, Treads.com, etc.

This is going to be great for the series!

I'm unable to verify that anywhere, but I don't doubt that the steepest pitch is close to that.

That seems pretty steep. If it's really that bad anywhere, it's on the sharp climb between 5 and 6.

I'm not sure if this is good or bad. I mean, it's a good video of the course... but somebody really got out of it in the kink!

There was a serious wall at the tour of Hermann. About 0.2 mi. 2nd half was 25% or more. On the steepest part I hit a low of 3.8 mph at 39 rpm (after 30 hard miles). And there were plenty other riders going slower.

There's a brutal local climb I do here, 0.5 mi and the last hundred yards is 20+%. I hit low 50s rpm at about 5 - 5.5 mph - and I'm an ok climber. Hard to believe that Road America has something steeper. No indication of it on the elevation chart.

If there is a 28% then some riders will be falling sidewards. I saw one guy do so at Spring Prairie and he took out the race favorite.

I've probably been to Road America 50-60 times, and I agree with this right here. There are some climbs that won't be fun (like, from what they call turn 12 up past s/f) but nothing that looks that incredibly steep. The worst hill there is actually next to the track between what they call turns 5 and 6. It's a popular hill for spectators, but a horrible thing to have to march up (especially if you're carrying brats).

Only a fellow racer would know how bad I pussed it through there ... lol. Guilty!


There are three notable climbs, after turn 5, after Canada corner, and going up the start finish. None are really steep but will allow pack separation if someone drills it, and they will. Can't believe any are anywhere near 26%?

Rule 1.

To determine whether to use whoever or whomever, here is the rule:
him + he = whoever
him + him = whomever
Examples:

Give it to whoever/whomever asks for it first.

Give it to him. He asks for it first.

Therefore, Give it to whoever asks for it first.
We will hire whoever/whomever you recommend.
We will hire him. You recommend him.
him + him = whomever
We will hire whoever/whomever is most qualified.
We will hire him. He is most qualified.
him + he = whoever

Rule 2. When the entire whoever/whomever clause is the subject of the verb that follows the clause, look inside the clause to determine whether to use whoever or whomever.
Examples:

Whoever is elected will serve a four-year term.

Whoever is elected is the subject of will serve.

Whoever is the subject of is.

Whomever you elect will serve a four-year term.

Whomever you elect is the subject of will serve.

Whomever is the object of you elect.

A bunch of years ago (possibly late 80's) there was a tv interview with one of the drivers right before a Trans-Am race there. I don't remember who it was, maybe Scott Pruett or Willy T. Ribbs (they look similar), kept yammering on and on about how the kink proves who the men are because it's "flat out". Then, every time they showed the in-car from that guy's car, he was lifting like mad through there.

Except for, maybe, an under-powered, open wheeled car with a decent amount of downforce, I don't think anybody goes through there flat-out. Not on every lap, anyway. Seems like a good way to die.

Big vote on the Geneva stage is this Monday. The meeting last Monday was long. Most folks were very supportive except for a few of the 3rd street retailers.

For as much crap as we (me) have blown the series, both the Garrisons and Otto were there. It's clear they've been busting their tails on this thing, and I've got a whole new respect for trying to put on such a huge ordeal.
