Real racing: Leland

The Penny Road Pub thread is hurting my brain. So, let's get some Leland chatter going.

Small P/1/2/3 field, but I expect that to change. Looks like the 4's will fill on race morning (91 currently pre-reg'd). 5's filled.

If it's as windy as it's been, look out! I expect the larger fields will shred nearly immediately which could make some placings a bit random...

And, what's going to happen with the centerline "issue". I'm looking at this race as a 3 hour tempo ride.

I'm looking at it as another Podium for PSIMET, whether its me or Raviv. Why look at it any other way?

Fixed your Big Ten grammar for you there.

Aham's going to give me a 45 mile lead out for the 5's win. Powered by McGriddles.

But pseriously... this is going to suck in a big time suckage way.

tspek always with the smack talk. I love it!

We are woefully under-represented in this race when it comes to the 4's. Not really a race that works for my riding profile, although that may look up if it rains. People better keep their eyes on Mike McCoy, though.

In the 5's... that could get ugly. We have 3 guys in there who may rip that thing apart trying to beat each other... Good times.

I'll take that too, it's just that if Raviv is going to block for me to get 2nd, i'll block for him to get 1st.

If you think you're going to be able to block hard and long enough to keep back Ben Popper, Mike Hemme, and Patryk Limanowicz, I just hope that I'm far enough up front to watch the show.

Patryk is in there? Oh snap. He is at least a cat2, if not a one on the road.
Cory from our team (a cat2) was hanging with him in the break in the 35+ at the autobahn and got killed in the final sprint by Patryk.

Like you're going to scare off cyclocross badasses with a little bump-and-grind? And I'd pay to see you try to get frisky with Limanowicz.

Scummer- He's on the start list. And, that day at Joliet, he won 3 races. Convincingly.

Ah. I mistakenly thought you were taking it slightly serious based on your above posts.

I'm not taking Leland all that seriously so a miscategorized cross rider isn't going to ruin my day. Besides, there is more to road rash than bumping

I secretly wish I hadn't signed up. Though the weather is shaping up to be nice.

I tried to weasel out a few weeks ago, but Fuller wouldn't let me. I'd rather head to the Madison crits. This is one of those things that sounded like a good idea in January.

Chance of rain is currently set at 0. I will boil like a lobster if it's even close to 60 degrees.

I signed up a few minutes before the 5's closed.

Damn. I almost had a great excuse.

Ha, yeah, but I'm not going to run up there Sunday to race if I do Leland on Saturday. I'll be dead... and that's a long way to ride with no hopes for an upgrade point. Would go if I wasn't doing Leland, though...

Instead I'll be recovery riding and watching playoff hockey.

he did that as a 5 too. in fact in the 5s race he was OTF with Eric from BH at lap two never to be seen again. what is his story?

anyway, i plan to mark Cylowe. i mean, i cant have him showing up for his first road race and place better then me. right?

later.

The story I heard, and this could be completely wrong, is that he raced in his native Europe. When he started here, the USAC didn't care and made him start as a 5. He clearly rides at a much higher level.

I'm sure Mr. Scrooby has some more details... but I'm not hopeful you'll hear them!

And, Aham, you boy Cylowe was pretty strong in his first real weekend of racing. I'm guessing that the both of you will finish well.

Besting you is not one of my goals in this deal. I saw your H-R placing.

my questions have been answered.

Should I try to win?
Well, Sure.

Also: the gravel roads will not be observing the centerline rule. However the road is open to traffic. DO NOT GET HIT.

Unless you are part dromedary, yes. The distances are long. I'd expect some of the race to be north of 3 hours...maybe 4 depending on wind. Fuel and pace yourself. A feed zone will be provided. You can have someone feed you (officials may not allow feeding on the last lap...race instructions pre race should determine that) or you can stash a water bottle. Stop, pick it up, and Chase back.
Awesome.
