Real racing: Leland
The Penny Road Pub thread is hurting my brain. So, let's get some Leland chatter going.
Small P/1/2/3 field, but I expect that to change. Looks like the 4's will fill on race morning (91 currently pre-reg'd). 5's filled.
If it's as windy as it's been, look out! I expect the larger fields will shred nearly immediately which could make some placings a bit random...
And, what's going to happen with the centerline "issue". I'm looking at this race as a 3 hour tempo ride.

tspek always with the smack talk. I love it!
We are woefully under-represented in this race when it comes to the 4's. Not really a race that works for my riding profile, although that may look up if it rains. People better keep their eyes on Mike McCoy, though.
In the 5's... that could get ugly. We have 3 guys in there who may rip that thing apart trying to beat each other... Good times.

If you think you're going to be able to block hard and long enough to keep back Ben Popper, Mike Hemme, and Patryk Limanowicz, I just hope that I'm far enough up front to watch the show.

Genetics have failed me
Cory from our team (a cat2) was hanging with him in the break in the 35+ at the autobahn and got killed in the final sprint by Patryk.

I'm not taking Leland all that seriously so a miscategorized cross rider isn't going to ruin my day. Besides, there is more to road rash than bumping

Chance of rain is currently set at 0. I will boil like a lobster if it's even close to 60 degrees.

I'm sure Mr. Scrooby has some more details... but I'm not hopeful you'll hear them!
And, Aham, you boy Cylowe was pretty strong in his first real weekend of racing. I'm guessing that the both of you will finish well.

my questions have been answered.
Should I try to win?
Well, Sure.
Also: the gravel roads will not be observing the centerline rule. However the road is open to traffic. DO NOT GET HIT.

Unless you are part dromedary, yes. The distances are long. I'd expect some of the race to be north of 3 hours...maybe 4 depending on wind. Fuel and pace yourself. A feed zone will be provided. You can have someone feed you (officials may not allow feeding on the last lap...race instructions pre race should determine that) or you can stash a water bottle. Stop, pick it up, and Chase back.
