Lake Ontario Route

I am in the process of routing a trip around Lake Ontario for Mid May 2012 and want to know if you can ride on the Lake Ontario State Parkway? I am trying to hug the lake as much as possible.

Also what weather should I expect in Mid May?

Bikes: Specialized Tarmac Expert, Giant Iguana,Schwinn Mesa, Huffy Rock Creek 29er, Fuji Cambridge, 1970s-era Ross ten speed. Various parts bikes in various stages of disassembly.

I don't see why you couldn't ride on it, it's open to all traffic as far as I know. It's not much to see if I remember correctly. A few views maybe.

Mid May, probably still a little chilly. It's always unpredictable around the lakes.

I've ridden on the Parkway with my 10-year-old many times, between Hamlin Beach and Rochester.

It's a 55MPH road, but the shoulders are absolutely huge - at least the width of a normal lane. However, it also has a LOT of accidents. There are sections that seem to lull drivers to sleep, with unfortunate consequences. So be careful.

May in Upstate NY: You could have snow ( Yes, I'm serious ), or it could be 85 degrees. You'll need to plan for a ride range of possibilities.
