Looking for a good bike shop in the Chicago area
I have a friend in a Chicago suburb (Oakbrook Terrace) who is shopping for her first bicycle. She's looking for a shop with good service. This is very important. Any recommendations?

Thanks for the tips! I was hoping 2 Bici would be a good one, and I don't think she'd mind driving an hour to Zion. I'll pass on the info. Thanks, again.

Way west, Pedal & Spoke, North Aurora. The good news is that it's 20' off the Fox River Trail system.

If you're going to go out to Pedal and Spoke in N. Aurora, you should make a day of it and check out Mill Race Cyclery in Geneva, The Bike Rack in St. Charles, and Prairie Path Cycles and All Spoked Up in Batavia . of them have websites, and all seem to get good reviews, though I've only ever bought at Prairie Path (I got my Trek there, and have gotten another bike serviced there). There is also Bicycle Heaven in Geneva, which seems to carry a high end selection of bikes and stuff. But, I went in there exactly one time (to buy a helmet, I was going to ask if they could order one for me) and I was, quite frankly, treated like garbage there and can't in good conscience give them a recommendation. But they are there.
Anyway, I think these shops would cover a bunch of the major brands in a relatively small area. You could certainly hit all of them in a day (Mill Race and Bicycle Heaven are literally a fifteen minute walk from each other, as are Prairie Path and All Spoked Up in Batavia).

Old thread, I know, but North Central Cyclery in Dekalb is a top notch full-service bike shop too. Straight West on 88. The shop is on a main road, but there is a lane behind with parking.
If you like coffee see if they have any of their special coffee in stock. They have their own roast and sell it, but it is hard to get - doesn't last long when they have it.
