Bicycle Touring Website

I have started a blog about bicycle touring that is following the progress and planning of my Korea to Portugal bike ride in March of 2009. There is information on bikes, gear, components, accessories, and rides around the world that might be of interest to people. Check it out.

Bicycle Touring Pro - TONS OF "HOW TO" ARTICLES ON BICYCLE TOURING

I've tried to create a website about bicycle touring and long distance travel that really focuses on "how to" type articles. The website was origionally designed for younger riders (between the age of 15 and 30), but readers of any age are welcome!

Hiya!

I'm off in two days for my first tour (bar a couple of training weekends back in Sussex, UK). I'm going to tour the south island of New Zealand, hopefully going all around it but it'll depend how fast I go, I've got 7 weeks.
I've got a brand new cherry Surly Long Haul Trucker to help me through it : ) Here's my blog: https://lisroundtheworld.wordpress.com/ and here is my Flickr account: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lisguegan where I'll attempt to post pictures fairly regularly, but I'll see!
Thanks for all the help I got on various threads here on BikeForums!

Hello, Forum -

Just a note: I've just posted my photos from a tour of Patagonia, from Puerto Montt, Chile, to Peninsula Valdes, Argentina. The weather was miserable, but the land is lovely. See: www.IntoThickAir.com.

Yours,

Yours,
After reading your book Jim, and noting your battles with mountains and winds, I wiped that region off my must do list, but your photos make the region very tempting. I also just had a look at your photos from Russia and I must send the link to a cyclist we warmshower hosted last week. She is a New Zealander who left home about 15 years ago and hasn't been back. She has recently arrived in Oz after two years teaching English in Bulgaria. After seeing the book Off the Rails - Moscow to Beijing by Bike (recumbent) on my bookshelf she resolved to cycle Russia. She did learn Russian at University which would be a help. I am sure she would enjoy your blog and book.

regards

I'm glad you're rethinking Patagonia (or perhaps have crossed it off your list) because it's tough country if you don't like big winds. It is terribly beautiful, however, and maybe worth a shot if you stick close to the Argentine side of the Andes during the summer. And thanks, too, for recommending the book to the lady who seeks a Russian adventure. She'll surely find it.

Yours,

I'm leaving the UK in July 2009 for a 2-year bike tour through Africa to Cape Town.

I've set up a website and will be adding to it in the near future... I'll be undertaking a series of photographic projects and writing a number of articles relating to Africa along the way.

If you want to follow my progress you can subscribe to receive emails etc.

Hope you take a look: www.takeonafrica.com

Right now this site primarily contains my 25-day backpacking journal from the Long Trail/Vermont in 2007, and I'm currently reposting my Transam bike trip from 2006.

Next to get posted is my Georgia to Maine Appalachain Trail hike from 2001-02, and then finally my Grand Canyon hikes from summer '08. I have my work cut out for me!

wordpress reverse posts order

Hi,
If you want to read a wordpress blog (wordpress is usually written at the bottom of the page), you will find that it starts from the last post.
To read all the posts from the start to the end, just add ?order=asc to the end of the url.

Example:
https://www.mywordpressblog.org/
becomes:
https://www.mywordpressblog.org/?order=asc

Hi touristes and long-distance enthusiasts!

I have finally finished the photography/image editing and authoring the "Touring Hub" at VeloWeb

The main touring page is: https://www.veloweb.ca/biketour.html and includes a bit of touring history.

TourVelos discusses appropriate bikes for touring: https://www.veloweb.ca/tourpages/tourvelo.html

The "Luggage" page is about all things baggage-like: https://www.veloweb.ca/tourpages/bikebags.html

There are stories, long and short, on some of my tours and randonnees on the Stories page @: https://www.veloweb.ca/bikestories.html

The touring section will soon have pages on touring kit, etc. The navigation bar on the left enables easy "touring" between sections & pages.

Keep on exploring!

Well, my site and blog is at: https://www.hoosiercycling.com
There isn't a lot there, and nothing about touring really, as I've just gotten into touring. There's a bit of info though, and a message board that no one uses. lol

I'm actually trying to put up interesting articles about bicycle touring on my re-designed blog at https://recklesscognition.wordpress.com

In about 1 month we will be including real-time updates from a 8500 bicycle tour from South Korea to Portugal. If you have an bicycling event you want publicized, let us know and we'll feature it.

Hi all,
I'm writing up my trip to Cuba from last year - 3 weeks with my bike.
It was my trial for the upcoming big trip I have planned, to see if my recently repaired knee would cope with all the pedalling - I needn't have worried.

https://www.takeoncuba.wordpress.com/

There's my journal entries, some photos and trip notes (for anyone considering a trip to Cuba and wanting information).

It's still a work in progress - if you're interested, check back over the next couple of weeks and I should have the rest of the journal entries written up.

My first real attempt at this blogging lark, so any comments/criticisms are appreciated.

Thanks, Helen

Not your typical tour, but this summer I'll be biking across North America in order to raise money and awareness for affordable housing with an organization called Bike and Build. Check out my website at https://www.pedalingforpoverty.org or my blog at https://allybikes.blogspot.com. Also, if you're able, feel free to make a donation - any amount is appreciated and every dollar gets me one step closer to dipping my rear wheel in Portsmouth, New Hampshire! </shameless plug>
