Have you ever had your bike stolen?

I'm always curious how that happens. Give me tips on how not to get my new bike stolen.

Common sense will help the most, after that a lock maybe?

Common sense and a lock go a long ways... At least that is what I attribute it to not ever having my bike stolen...

Recommend a good lock if you don't mind

TBH I couldn't name you one lock, I have a standard cycle lock. Dont end up one of these front wheels you seen chained to lamposts with quick release wheels 😂

Well, I got mine stolen off my second floor apartment balcony. I guess they climbed the nearby tree, jumped to the balcony, and sawed through the railing that my bike was locked to. Then threw the bike over the side. Shocking that no one saw or heard it -- it can be a busy apartment complex. These guys were pros. Now I keep it inside.

As I understand it, U-locks or chains are the best, but I have a Kryptonite cable. Considering I don't go into dodgy neighborhoods and don't leave it over night, it works well.

I did a lot of research about locks and Kryptonite ranks well. This is helpful:

And this is a good video:

Never got a bike stolen ... but they are locked in my garage in a good neighborhood, or locked outside briefly to a pole while I do something.

U locks are the best, Kryptonite is one of the best brands. Anything like those cable or normal sized chain locks are hardly even a deterrent ... 2 seconds with a bolt cutter is all they take.

Cheap U locks can be busted open with a bar, the best ones take a few minutes with a noisy angle grinder. No lock will take a determined and equiped thief (that can work in privacy) more than a few minutes ... but they will go for the easiest targets.
