Anyone else having issues ordering with Trek?
I purchased an 8.4 DS through my local Trek store on May 19th and was told it should be ready sometime the during the following week. Not receiving a call at the expected time, I called them May 29th and they told me that delivery is taking longer because, instead of receiving my bike from WI, they're receiving it from CA which is understandable. Here I am at an additional 1.5 weeks, and I'm still bikeless 3 weeks from original date purchased. This is my first bike purchased in 10+ years, so should I give them the benefit of the doubt? Is this typically normal for a special ordered bike or do I have the right to be upset?

Does not sound right to me. Longest I or my SO have had to wait was a week. Assuming you are in the US or Canada (and not one of the outlying islands), Something else is going on there. I've gotten items direct from China in less time.

You are paying, so I guess you have the right to be upset, but life will be nicer if you give the shop the benefit of the doubt.
3 week sounds like a long time for a bike to be shipped anywhere in the US, ao you might just want to make sure that it is indeed coming.
In most instances like this, I find that if you tend to let them know you are disappointed in a subtle way, a retailer may give you a deal on the price...
I have seen a former in-law get his way by being a dick, but I also saw some retailers dig their heels in and basically tell him to take his business elsewhere....

Im a college student and paying lol. Just trying to improve health and start doing something I love again. I'm not normally an aggressive person in general. I've worked in customer service for a long time so I understand being on the opposite side of a disgruntled customer whether he/she was wrong or right. Definitely did not inspire me to give in to their demands lol. Ill drop by tomorrow and ask about my order in person. If my bike is still not available and I can't get a logical answer, Ill politely ask for a manager and discuss the dilemma. Thanks for the help guys! I just want my bike and start riding again.

I was on my way to the store and I got the call. Funny how that worked out. Got what I wanted, so I left. The bike looks better than what I expected! Pics to come in the DS thread! Thanks to everyone for their help and support.

It's more waiting for the Container ship Loaded in Taipei, to dock at the POE on the west coast ,
some models pre season Batch order from the Contract Manufacturers In Taiwan , have sold Out By Now.
Often a Manufacturing Order size is Based on Pre season Orders at the InterBike Las Vegas trade Show
But that is an expensive trip few Bike Shop Owners spend the money to Make ..
so the other dealers get what they can in the spring, sell those and thats It .. none in the Warehouse to re order.
The Recall was Just about a Skewer and people opening the lever into the disc.
(the less than 'swift' and attentive, still can get a contingency fee Lawyer)
Putting the QR lever on the left side and keeping it closed and secure and no problems arise ..
