Bike shops will replace that floor space with better less expensive bikes. Treks are just a run of the mill bike today. The bike shops will take any assembly job Trek sends them from on line buyers trying to save a dime. it's the old story " everyone knows the price of everything and the value of nothing"

Btw I don't believe buying all the components from Fender and building yourself is cheaper. You may break even if you get some of the parts at a discount vs full retail or "street" price as they call it for the finished product.

There is more to a bike than Small, Medium, Large.
Stack Height, Reach, Stem Length, Stem Angle, Handlebar width and Handlebar rise all contribute to the fit and comfort of riding a bike.
For example...I'm 5'8" and my hybrid bike is a large. The medium hybrid bike of same model was too small for me.
My mountain bike (and every other mountain bike I have tried out) is always a medium. But not every mountain bike I have tried out is comfortable to ride due to the factors above in combination with head tube angle and seat tube angle.

I'm sure this applies to the bigger popular players though, ie Specialized / Trek. 2015's warehouse stock is probably close to or already gone, assuming manufacturing has turned to the 2016 line.

I was searching for a 2015 Giant Roam 1 at the beginning of August and was told by 3 dealers that there were no more available to be ordered. I ended up ordering a 2016 Roam 1 which should be in next week.

That is a fairly popular bike from a big name in the industry. I would expect a lot of the 2015's to be gone by now, if they have ceased manufacturing.

Because of Trek policy, several local shops stopped selling the Trek brand, during the preceding few years (heck, almost 10 years). This has already happened - to the point that Trek dealers around here are not always convenient to the consumer, and this is the Chicago area.
