Got the FSA SL-K that's stock on the Pro. That includes new chainrings and required a new BB. The rings are 10/11 speed compatible and are marked as such.

I have a 9 speed, so I think it can still fit but I'm not sure. Did you install the MegaEvo BB? Is this what you have:

The five carbon bicycles for the Sirrus, are they all made of the same carbon fiber? Only the components are different?

Correct. The frame is the same, the components are different.

it amazes me how many people go straight for the carbon bikes.

I didn't because of price. I wanted to be sure I rode enough to justify the expense. I am interested in what amazes you about it, though.

I see many post about new to riding or haven't ridden in years and more often than not they are looking for the carbon models. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, perhaps a little jealousy on my behalf, but the aluminum models are great bikes as well. Just seems like carbon gets pushed a lot on people when they go to LBS these days.

chong67 10-14-15 08:01 PM

I call one store in Atlanta area and they stock the carbon Sirrus. In fact, a few models. I am suprised. I guess people buy these often?

Been riding recreationally for over 55 years--no opinion on whether they're being pushed or not. I decided on my Elite Carbon before ever visiting my LBS because it's probably the last bike I'll ever buy and I wanted the lightest (with mods) and best bike for me that I could afford.
After seeing what carbon can do for fly rods and my photography gear, it just made sense.

It is just preception that lighter means faster?

I remember in physic P = M * V ; take the M down so its P/M = V

Now its inverse, meaning, if M goes down, then V goes up

Thats why I am getting a carbon soon.

Seems like all the bikes with high end components are attached to carbon frames. Nobody pushed anything on me, I went in looking for a nice light carbon hybrid with good components and bought the one I liked the best.

Been collecting 105 5800 components for my Sirrus Sport with my fun money the last six months. The flatbar shifters finally available so I can have a switch kit for it where I can swap bars between flat and drop like I've been doing with the Sora setup. I ride flatbar, but will switch to drops for longer rides. Nothing more fun than tearing down a bike and putting it back together.

Hi guys looking for some advice. After much deliberation I have decided to purchase a Specialized Sirrus. Upgrading from a 3 year old Hardrock that was not getting used off road much at all. I'm now torn between going with the Elite disk or Carbon Elite disk. Any one got either bike and would recommend? I know these are two very different machines but I'm trying to justify spending the extra £300+ for the carbon and neither model is stocked in my local bike shop to compare in person

Both the Sirrus Elite disc and Carbon Elite disk have identical running gear and geometry, so it is going to come down to how much you want a carbon frame and/or which colour you prefer.

The Elite disk is discounted by 15% which made it come into my thinking in the first place but my LBS discount the carbon by 10% giving me the same saving so I opted for this and ordered today. A late contender was the Giant Fastroad but only stocked in one of my local stores and in a bigger size so couldn't try it out. A 2 week order wait on the Giant made the decision for me, I just hope my haste doesn't make me regret the Elite Carbon.
Cheers ColonelSanders

Here is mine from last weekends ride. It's a 2015 carbon pro. I swapped handlebars and stem for Easton carbon parts and changed to carbon tubeless wheels
