Specialized vs Cannondale?
Thought I was set on purchasing the Specialized Sirrus Elite Disc but my LBS showed me the Cannondale Quick Speed 2. Regular prices are pretty close and my LBS is offering both at $850. Both have hydraulic disc brakes and a carbon fork, 2 options that were a must for me. Does one have better components than the other? Is one a better deal? I was always a little weary of Cannondale since they seemed to be sold at many retailers such as REI. Should I be?

Cannondale is a good brand, I almost bought a bad boy for commuting. Buy the bike that feels best to you.
I think the Cannondale Quick Speed 2 lists over $1000, the specialize just under so $850 for the Cannondale may be a good deal.. And it seems to have shimano disks which, to me, have a much better brake feel than the Tektro used on the Specialized. Otherwise they look about the same, there is some shifter and geometry differences.
There is a Quick thread around here somewhere.

If 8 out of 10 people (you don't know) on the Internet tell you that Cannondale is a quality product........ will you want the Specialized Sirrus Elite any less? Sometimes.... it's something as simple as a paint theme that swings a decision ether way.
Go back to the shop and test ride both bikes.... then let the feel and your feelings decide.

They make bike frames to spec, almost like other components; sprockets, brakes, that the bike vendors assemble and sell.
