Does anyone have this Diamondback

I'm looking for something just to mess around with, I already have a road bike. I'm not looking for a high dollar bike. I have to many hobbies to spend lots on all. If I enjoy this I can do some upgrades. If not sell and not lose to much. Would like to try disc brakes also.

I'm 56 so nothing crazy with this bike trails maybe beach ect. I not a big fan of silver and usually like the traditionally framed bikes better but for some reason I'm really liking this one. I have been looking for some online reviews and haven't really found any.

Bikes direct is $100 cheaper than buying at the LBS.

That's a lot of bang for a $400 bike and if that's the best you can afford, it's better than not riding.

Their is a big difference between what I can afford and am willing to pay. Knowing myself it will just be sitting in 6 months. If not it will be time to upgrade some components. Has nothing to do with not riding as stated I already have a road bike.

But you're comment lot of bike for $400 is very encouraging.

Hey, I didn't mean my post to be derogatory in any way. I'm sorry if it was offensive to you, that was not my intent.

No offense taken. If I was sure it was something I would stick with I would be looking at something better.

You may also want to look at Nashbar's offerings. They have a suspension Trace disc brake model, and a disc brake version Diamondback Insight 2 that would be nice choices, and would cost less with Nashbar's special promotion discounts (20% or more off).

I wasn't really think about suspension. I guess that makes me think about mountain bikes. But was just wondering if I might be able to find a carbon fiber fork for this down the road.

Was thinking something slower and more leisurely so I can ride with my wife sometime. She has a old POS Huffy. I'm trying to get her to alteast get a better pos that's a little easier and enjoyable to ride. But that's not working.

I have gave up riding with her on the road bike. She thinks I'm trying to race but doesn't realize that the bike is that bad.

My co-worker has that exact same bike in that color and he likes it a lot. This was his first "real" bike and he has been riding quite often and really enjoying it.

I just ordered the Diamondback. First upgrade I need o start looking for a better seat for this bike. I'm guessing a little bigger seat than a road bike seat? Suggestion's?

I got mine also. Very nice looking bike. I have this saddle on the way. https://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Produc...78_-1___205002. Got it on sale for $40.00. I had to take the pedals apart and adjust as they were to tight. Need it get it up on the work stand and adjust the derailleurs and take it for a ride.

Next upgrade it to replace the cheap plastic rear derailleur.

Bikes: Diamondback Trace Dual Sport, Specialized Hard Rock Comp

Hey Ron, I love mine! Almost 1800 miles on it now. I changed the tire to Greenway Kevlar (1500 miles on the first set) and recently upgraded the fork to a RockShox Paragon Gold for the smoother ride and the ability to lockout https://www.sram.com/rockshox/products/paragon-gold

Mainly ride Rail Trails and dirt roads, but do get considerable road mileage around the neighborhood, and have seen some mountain bike type terrain. It's a great "all round'' bike.

The disc brakes work much better than the side pulls when in wet conditions .

If you have a specific question I will help all I can! Have you read the Amazon reviews ?

I believe this to be a great bike in this price area and when taken care of should serve you well.
