I picked up a his and hers 720 set off cl. $75 each. The black is a 94 and made tawain. I believe the blue is 98 and is chromoly and made in the USA. Both bikes have original tires with little wear. I think they spent most of there life in a garage. I'm super exciting to get out on a cruise with them!
I know you will have fun on them. I'll take a bet that you'll want to swap those original tyres out for something else once you've ridden with them a couple of times, unless you're riding offroad and don't mind heavy peddling. I swapped out the original tyres on mine for something with a smoother tread and it rode a hundred percent easier, like the difference between night and day. I don't take it off the pavement now so I fitted 25's on (120psi rating),and it rides really smooth and effortlessly. Definitely worth the small investment if you want to enjoy paved riding. Keep us updated how the riding goes on them. |

What kind of tires do you have. I want to get some that are weather appropriate. |

I see a lot of you have rear racks. Any good suggesting for a simple lightweight rack that bolts on nicely to the multitrack?

My 1995 MultiTrack 700
It's still mine, although it was stolen when a house I had begun moving into in the West End neighborhood of Atlanta was burglarized in July of 2013. It is black with "ice blue" (purple, actually) lettering. My favorite color combination. A 19" steel frame that fits me perfectly. The plastic parts of the Shimano Altus brakes broke after a couple of years. It now has Tektro Oryx brakes. And a small tear on the stock saddle. I filed a police report. It may have been sold to a pawn shop in Cobb County. The police were very secretive about the details, as if they did not want me to go look for it. I want it back, so if you see it, please reply.

I use a Planet Bike on mine. I think all models have dual threaded mounting points at the rear dropouts as well as threaded braze-ons on the seatstays. |
Update on my 720's

Hey, just posting some newer pics of my 720's. Got racks for both, lighter alloy handlebars and bar ends I had laying around. I Got a cloud 9 sport ladies seat on the black one. I also got some all cream Schwalbe delta cruisers for it. I cant wait for better weather to get here.

So, I've put a couple hundred miles on the 700 and I have to say that I like the ride a lot. I ride once a week with MTB (more XC'ish) friends and I thought I'd shock them by bringing my 700. They laughed until I left them huffing and puffing on the trail. Now keep in mind that the trails we ride are relatively flat and very few roots/ruts. It was fun to show them a gravel bike can not only keep up but set the pace. Of course next week they want to ride some of the rougher trails, think I'll leave the 700 home for that!

Hi All, I just found a 1993 700 Multitrack on the side of the road. Seems to be in good order, just needs a few things. Has anyone successfully fit a 700x45 tire on this bike? Thanks.
|
Should fit. My 1990 750’s tightest spot was the height under the fork crown. Couldn’t squeeze a 700x50. Just a wee bit to tall. Width wise it was fine. You should be fine with a 45. |
My '97 750's frame is a bit tighter than some of the earlier ones I think. I have a nominal 42mm tire on mine (39mm actual width, 36mm actual height), and I'm not sure that I could fit an actual 45mm tire in mine. If it was labeled 45mm, and actually measured smaller, then it might fit.
To be sure, measure your frame. You'll have three tight spots:

Here is the bike in question. It cleaned up real nice https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...18c48d9b0c.jpg |
Excellent! These '90s Multi Tracks are classy and durable bikes.

Here was my 720. Don’t think the frame is heavy duty enough for my commute. Ran into the back of a truck but thinking it gave out too easy. Even I’ve found a awesome replacement 720 think a Surly is in my future. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0e3aa73db.jpeg |
What set-back seat post is that on the green frame? I have a 1992 720 that I haven't outfitted yet because, among other reasons, I still haven't found a seatpost to move the seat far enough back. (The other reason is that my beater -- other bike -- is finally 100% functional and I just want to ride, so that'll do for this summer at least.) |

What is the bottom bracket threading/axle width on these bikes, anyone? Mine is a 93' 700. Thanks.
|
The threading will be regular English threading (1.37" x 24 tpi) and the shell should be 68mm wide. If you have the bike, though, measure the shell width to be sure. Any cartridge bottom bracket (such as a Shimano UN55 for example) should work, with the correct axle width.

For the record, 700 x 45 WTB Riddlers fit with plenty of clearance. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...b18abf8334.jpg

What road are you driving down that you're finding Multitracks on the side of? I need to visit that road. |

ISO Early 23"
Hi all hybrid riders, i have been scouring CL and any tall Multitrack are either gone in a second or sold by someone who does not know how to use a tape measure (or figures once you are there you will take it even if it is a 19").
Anyway title of the post says it all. Looking for steel frame model, any color but red, 23". Earlier model the better, will pay top dollar for a garage queen. Let me know if you have anything or know of any in your local area. Also have a couple of nice frames (too small for me) for trade, Surly Cross Check, Surly Pacer both 56. Ruben in So Cal |
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0af2100a3.jpeg Picked up this better sized 750. The 23” I had was just too big. This one wasn’t in as nice shape, but it’s perfect for my uses. The old suntour stuff was abused so I stripped it & turned it into a 1x7. More than enough for my local. Here it is on a surf check while running errands. |
