Sirrus X 4.0 or something else?

Looking at buying my first proper bike and also transferring my commute to work from 4 wheels to 2. Most of the riding I currently do is a mix of gravel/hardpack trails with pretty poor surfaces in places, and roads... with pretty poor surfaces (when is a pothole a sinkhole?!). Probably prefer to ride more trail then road at the moment and my current bike (Boardman CX) is fine, but not in love with it, and don't find the drop handlebars so good when I just went to chill out a bit more.

I think the plan is a hybrid, sell the Boardman, and maybe replace with a proper road bike if I ever feel the need. For now I've been looking at a number of hybrids but then saw the Sirrus X which seemed to be a gravel bike you can commute with daily. Just looking to sanity check the choice and see if there were any other suggestions in the same price bracket (circa £1000). I've also seen a Cannondale Quick Disc 1 for £849,00 that seems to be good value.

I just picked up a Sirrus X 3.0. I've done around 60 miles on road, and just a quick 2 miles on single-track... It's a little rougher than my dedicated MTB, but it did everything I wanted. So far I'm really liking it.
