Ride all of the same type bikes you can. One will definitely feel more comfortable to you than the others. Try to get them to adjust them all the same, INCLUDING TIRE PRESSURE!
I would want the highest spoke count I could get, hydraulic disk brakes, and a triple front, with a 9 or 10 speed rear. 700c or 29er tires are a must. Front suspension or not, on a multi function bike, would make no difference to me. They all have their pros and cons. No suspension? A carbon fork is nice!
Put that stuff together, with the one that feels the best to you, and you have your bike.
Like getting married, though, you gottta fall in love with it when you see it!
