You might want to have a separate thread easier for new questions and such. However any bike like that can be subject to the issues of dissimilar materials. Not that it happens to everything or is something to completely turn you off of everything but something to look at. Back in the early days of non-steel everything wasn't great because they tried to make steel bikes out of not-steel, they hadn't totally figured out how to best work with those materials and just copied the tubing profiles of steel which doesn't work as well. However if the parts are in good shape $190 is high but could be worth looking at just for those alone. An old XT derailleur from the 7-8 speed era is basically bombproof and can run 9 speeds quite well and a lot of those other parts will also last a long time and have some value on their own.
I will say these old lugged bikes look cool, I had a co-worker and friend who had an old Specialized Allez with aluminum lugs and carbon tubes and it was such a neat looking bike. He liked the ride on it but mostly used it as a single speed at that point, after some repair to a drop out. However he worked in the industry and had a ton of bikes.

I sold this bike a few years ago but sometimes I wish I hadn’t. It was in absolutely pristine condition, and I upgraded a few bits to things I liked better than stock.
But for me, the ride was very “noodley”. So much so that I thought there might have been a cracked, delaminated tube or possibly a separation from one of the lugs. Like the back tire was quickly going flat.
I was very disappointed to experience that; the bike was gorgeous, rare (ish), and my size in an affordable price. How often do those 3 elements combine when looking at a vintage bike? For me, not very.
But the cosmos aligned for me again last summer when I picked up a Multitrack 750 in my size, at a price I could easily pay, so it all evens out I guess.
I would like to see yours for sure; post up some pics if you get a chance!

Hey! Yes, I should absolutely have started a new thread - I am still unfamiliar with using Bike Forums but there's a first time for everything. Basically just want something good for commuting / gym / pub / shops as I have a lovely Felt Breed 30 for all my fun adventure activities.

If nothing else that old frame could be a super nice wall hanger or sell it and make 50-100 bucks and you are gold.
Hello indeed good to hear from more of us. There are a few vegan folks on the forum though I think I am probably the more active one out of all of us but I am also a massive bike nut in addition to my care of animals and not harming them.

Yeah, I am just a little uncertain of the safety - that's the main reason for my post! I don't want to eat dust whilst I'm riding because the bike comes apart! I also found another Multitrack, a steel 700, and I believe it's in my size, but he has said it's "fully refurbed" and is selling it for AUD$350 (USD$220)
As a new user I can't post links / pics until I have made ten or more posts! Let me know if there's a workaround.
