90's Trek Multitrack Sizing

Hey guys. I know the question has been asked before, and I've seen mixed responses.

I found a '92 Trek 750 in 19". It looks to be pretty lightly used and in good shape.

I'm 5'7" and change, and I ride a modern specialized allez @ 52cm which feels great. I see that the top tube of the 750 is over 55 cm which would be way too much on a road bike, but I'm not sure how that would workout on a hybrid. It would probably be a bad candidate for a drop bar conversion, but that's not necessarily a deal breaker.

What are your thoughts on the sizing?

At 5'7" you're on the borderline, with a lean toward a 17 inch frame. Riding it is the only real way to know.

This was my feeling as well. I was on the borderline btw 52 and 54 for my road bike frame as well. Made the mistake of going with the 54. Fortunately I was able to swap that out for a 52. I’m a bit leggy with a 32.5 inseam, so the reach is what gets me. I passed on the 19”

I’ve got a line on a ‘92 720 that appears to be a 17”. I think I’ll check it out this week

FWIW 94 on non-lugged have a sloping top tube and are more forgiving for clearance.

sweet. This is good to know. Though with 32.5” PBH I don’t think stand over would have been too much of an issue. I have a small torso, poor flexibility and fairly normal wingspan so reach is usually my shortcoming
