Long past due update!
I've had he 730 our for a few rides this spring. One was around town on dedicated bike paths and the others headed north along my usual segments of the Ohio to Erie Trail. Bike is dialed in and works great. Love the STX RC parts - shifts are quick, quiet, and it has a great range with the 3x8 drivetrain. Fit is excellent except for the saddle which works great for short rides but is not comfortable for rides over 45 minutes. (It was a compromise from the beginning but workable. If I want big miles, I'll grab another bike from the fleet/) I'm happy with the sweep on the Siene bars and the Ergon grips are nice. The cork took some time for me to get used to. GK Slicks are are inflated to 38F/40R and am very happy with grip and comfort.
And the look? Ya gotta love the look.

Like to see some pics of your Allant. I picked one up a few years ago for a song and have finally settled in to it a little. It is an unfortunate color that some (me, at least) like to call poo.

If the mods see this, please spin off the last two posts into a stand alone thread. I get the desire to see someone's project but please not here.
In the spirit of the bikes, these guys seem appropriate.

That is a nice 730. The fenders make it! I do have a question; the rear break cable guide. I have a similar guide on a Bianchi Volpe I picked up and was curious how the cable is routed into it. Did yours have an reducer or lining in it?

I used an Origin8 clamp-on frame mount cable guide for the v-brake conversion instead of the guide used for the original canti brakes. I struggled on deciding between black or silver clamp. Black would hide more but felt it would look out of place. I'm happy with the choice of silver. I hope the pic helps your project.

Cool. That's how I pictured it and have mine routed similarly. The Origin8 clamp on cable stops are a great little part. I used one another bike when the original plastic down tube piece broke.
Out of curiosity, how was the rear canti brake routed through the braze on? Was a reducer used? I made do with a piece of inner housing through the braze on, but that always felt wrong.
