Because it looked bent, I went to your Flicker page to see other pictures and it looks a little bent in the before (flat bar) pic also but I figured it was an illusion. It's pretty hard to bend the seat tube! Haha.

I don't know if you still have a hybrid! It looks a lot like a classic touring bike now. Very nice though! I like it. You have some other nice vintage rides too.

Nevermind me classifying it as tourer rather than a hybrid. I'm glad you posted the pictures here. I post pictures of my mountain bike in the hybrid forum and nobody seems to mind. Haha. We're open minded and we like all kinds of bikes.

q- I have a cheap camera, but even if I had a better one I'd probably screw up the pics regardless.

Hit the MTB trails today with our hybrids.. it was fun! We did some mild stuff but my wife's 'comfort hybrid' was up to the task. Here they are all cleaned up. Not OCD clean, but a huge improvement.. I should've done before & after.

I finally turned my cannondale f4 into a faux bad boy, 700x26 tires. I like it, still like to ride my singlespeed better though.

I just got new tires. They are 28mm and can hold 130psi. My old tires could hold 80psi at 38mm. They are grey Serfas Secas.

Surely you have not pumped them up to 130psi, unless you are a very heavy rider...? Somewhere around 85-95 psi is more normal for that size.

I did 120psi. I couldn't get the pump to inflate them any further than that. You have to do high pressures for narrow tires like that because of the threat of pinch flats. I only weigh 140lbs.

I weigh nearly 200 lbs (used to be 230 two years ago, but that's another story) and I never inflate my road bike's 23mm tires higher than 120. My commuter's 28mm tires never get pumped to any more than 100-105. True, narrower tires need more pressure to avoid pinch flats, but since rider weight is such a huge part of the total package, lighter riders can afford to run lower pressures.

I started using BF member Psimet's tire pressure formula a few years back and I like how it's worked:
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...tip-of-the-Day

Below you will find equations that you can use to help determine an appropriate starting point using your weight and the tire's size. Adjust from these baselines to suit needs and conditions.

Proper inflation is the easiet way to avoid flats.

Tire Width=20: Pressure(psi) = (0.33 * Rider Weight in lbs) + 63.33
Tire Width=23: Pressure(psi) = (0.33 * Rider Weight in lbs) + 53.33
Tire Width=25: Pressure(psi) = (0.33 * Rider Weight in lbs) + 43.33
Tire Width=28: Pressure(psi) = (0.33 * Rider Weight in lbs) + 33.33

Tire Width=32: Pressure(psi) = (0.17 * Rider Weight in lbs) + 41.67
Tire Width=37: Pressure(psi) = (0.17 * Rider Weight in lbs) + 26.67

Example: You are 150lbs running 28's

Pressure (psi) = (0.33*150) +33.33 = 82.83psi (rear)
Front Pressure = .9*Rear Pressure = .9*82.83psi = 74.55psi front

Yep, same stuff on Sheldon Brown's site.

Alpha, you are way, way overinflated. You will wear out the center of your tires and have a very harsh ride. I've been there, done that. Oddly enough I had to learn my lesson all over with road bikes for some reason, after riding low pressures on MTBs for traction I suddenly think that sidewall number is the 'right' number for me.

I tried sheldon's formula on my old 38mm tires. I found that it was much harder to keep up to speed on the narrow pressures that were calculated by that formula, so I inflated them up to the max. Also, the contact patch of the tire is the center black strip, which is what it's supposed to be. The grey strips on the side are only for cornering, according to Serfas's website. I didn't mean to start a flamewar about pressures, but I am going to keep them above 110psi. I will deflate the front to 100psi to make the ride a little more comfortable.

A flamewar is where people call each other names and get out of control. We were just trying to help, but if you like the way your bike is then by some measure it is right for you!

Pretty snappy looking.

BTW, wouldn't the white line in the picture above be the guide for your stem?

Really nice tires there Alphadogg!
28's slicks with 130 PSI will be about the fastest possible rolling tires ever
