Good point, I'm due for a new phone in about 2 months - at that point I'll have one that has a camera on it that works...

Thanks for the compliment. Yes, as bjjoondo said, they are Vittoria Randonneur tires. So far they are great, but it's too early to tell how they will hold up. I've heard good things about these tires though.

Ok, I managed to coax one crappy picture out of my rapidly dying phone...
I just put the fenders on and I think I need to raise the rack a little now to give it a little more room

I got a new bike and a new commute to high school 7 miles away. Here's my setup:

I'm loving it so far -- especially with the rack bag replacing the backpack I used to carry. It's much faster and more comfortable with all that weight on my back. My goal by graduation (May 2013) is a commute under 25 minutes... so far, I'm off to a good start!

Haha, no - it's more of a joke than anything. I've gotten lots of compliments and laughs, though!

I love old steel! Let us know how you like those handlebars. I've got some Albatross but having grips almost parallel to the top tube doesn't work for me so I'm interested in something along the lines of the bars on your bike.

I've been wanting to mention those bars too. Original to the bike, right? Where could I find these? Found some similar, but would like something a little less expensive.

Soma has something similar but not quite the same. I don't think I've seen any others that were close to that shape.

Yeah, it was the Soma Noah's Arc that I was refering to. May have to break down and just get 'em.

Well, after a couple weeks of having my new/old hybrid, my old man put me to task finding him one. Here's what I ended up with. It's a 1994 Specialized Crossroads Cruz. ALthough it's old, it is in great shape and needed very little adjustment and cleaning. It also came with the rack, a bag, and pump. For $165, it was a good package and will get him off his Big Box Store Schwinn.

That looks like a great bike for your dad. For me, those mid-90's cro-moly hybrids still define the category.

My new hybrid: Privitera (Pinarello clone) 55cm road frame, Nexus 8 rear hub, 42/20 gearing, 3N72 front hub, Ambrosio rims, Vittoria tires, 105 crankset and brakes, 3tt stem, Rolls saddle. I'm very pleased with this hub, it works smoothly, only wished smaller gear spacing. Only did 120 kms on it so far, now I'm building a LED lighting system.

Yeah - my favorites are the lugged frame Trek 700 series, but only because I was not as familiar with the Specialized Crossroads bikes at the time.

Le Vélo Phred 2012

Just before taking off for lunch @ a local brewpub.
Jury's out on the Basil Messenger bag. Nice bag, but I get a tetch of heal strike sometimes. Probably wouldn't be an issue if I used clipless, but I don't anymore so the feet move 'round a tetch.

Here's my Specialized Sirrus Limited. Just got back into bicycling after 25 years of being a couch potato. So far, we have a love/hate relationship: I love what the bike does for me and hate what it does to me! But my, how things have changed in 25 years!

My old trusty work horse. Still as wonderful as the day I bought it.

Lovely looking commuter. You have it set up nicely.
I`m puzzled about your mentioning you hate what it does to you. Are you overdoing the riding? The bike / bike ride should feel comfortable. Please expand on what you meant.
