Y es, I'm a noob. Just bought a Trek 750 off Craigslist after riding a beach cruiser on vacation and realizing how good the exercise would be after the summer (I swim laps in the summer). Other than that I haven't ridden a bike much more than a ride around the block since I was a kid many moons ago. I may look to upgrade next year depending on if I stay interested.

It cost me over 2k with taxes. However this bike should last me the rest of my life unless its abused or stolen. I am in my mid 40s and if you average it out to end of my life its not expensive. Just buy it once and be done wit it.

Sounds like a good investment. I was talking with the owner of my LBS who I also know from a ski forum and he explained that the god thing about cycling is you have an initial investment in gear and then very little cost afterward, whereas skiing you have an initial investment and then you still have to pay for a lift ticket (unless you hike for your turns).

I picked up my 2014 Trek 7.4 last weekend, and my friend just got his Dahon Mariner. Loving them both so far.

Is that bike the right size for you? The seat looks very low.

Weird picture!!! The rear wheel looks monstrous compared to the front. I'm sure it's just an illusion...

It's pouring rain outside or else I'd go for a lovely glamour shot in the great outdoors...so this is in my basement.

My 2014 Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc, with some minor commuter/shopper/traveler stuff:

I am not totally in love with where the pump is, but it's a little too long to fit in my bag, so I might play around with mounting it to the seat tube or something to get it to hide away a little better.

Actually, the seat is a little low for me, but not by much. I'm short and this bike is the smallest available, I believe (15").

Yeah, now that you mention it, it does look weird in the photo. Now I have to check!

My Diamondback

Here's my new Diamondback and my wife's older model Vector Haro that I'm converting from a MTB to a hybrid.

Have you considered mounting the pump on one of the seat stays? That's where I mount mine on my hybrid:

That is so much better looking. Time to play with some zipties tonight! Does the Topeak (that is a Topeak, right) mount handle the thinner size of the seat stays without any issue?

Yes, that's a Topeak Road Morph G. I didn't have any problems mounting it to the stays; however, it is worth noting that the mount does occasionally slide down a little bit. I simply check the pump before every ride since discovering that, and I haven't had any issues. Overall, the setup has worked well for me; I've been riding with it like that since the summer of 2012 (several thousand miles on that bike).

Much, much better. Thanks for the suggestion!

I used to have a 2010 Devinci St Topez bike. It's a sweet bike. If you ever come to find a devinci bike, I recommend you to try it.

Wow, I hadn't realized what a fantastic purchase I made on ebay of this 2011 Sirrus Sport. The frame is a little big (for a 54cm) but it's a beautiful bike. Once I found the tires I liked (Armadillo Elite 23/25) it's more a road bike (vs fat tired commuter).
There's a major difference in the 2012 Sirrus Sport (I couldn't pass this deal up on ebay, free shipping). Totally different frame and gearing (lower), more like a MTB. You have to go to the carbon series to get a similar humped frame (and more $$$) but there's an improvement in the frame sizing. It just keeps getting better. I convinced a riding friend (older fellah-72) to look at the Sirrus Carbon before plopping down $2000 on a Cannondale Quick. He did and put the purchase on a Sirrus Carbon Comp Disc. I'm jealous. My 2011 (Yellow) weighs about 24lbs, his about 12oz (well, maybe a little more than that). Now I want one (yeah, right, I still haven't finished paying for the Roubaix and four bikes isn't enough?!)

Hey I have the same rack, same trunk bag, and the same Road Morph G (in black) in the same place on my top tube!

I also don't much like the pump on the top tube. I wish they had a mount that would let me put it in between the bottle cage and frame. I like the seat stay idea but that would interfere with my clip-on fenders.

I was thinking about rigging something up to zip-tie the mount next to a bottle cage, but I have to play around with it to see if I can keep it from interfering with pedal stroke. Maybe on the seat stay cage. I don't have fenders (yet) but I did notice that it looks like it will definitely be in the way if I want to get them. Either way -- getting it off the top tube was a huge improvement - now I can lift up my bike from the top tube again!

I run fenders on my hybrid (they just were not installed in the picture I shared earlier) and they do not interfere with the pump being mounted on the seat stay.

A picture from last year:

I was referring to my clip-on Raceblade fenders I use on my road bike, which has rubber straps that attach to the seat stays.

I know. I was responding to kielwb to let him know that running fenders is still possible, even with the pump mounted on the seat stay.

Thanks! I'm still poking around to find the best fenders to fit 700x38 wheels but I'm glad they'll work out.

I've seen your bike in a few threads now and I must say that Orange colour is really growing on me.

You should consider getting the Bontrager rack extension arms or whatever they are called, to attach your rack to your seat stays.

They are a black tubular shape and look a lot better than the twisted silvery metal arms.

I don't think the Bontrager tubular rack arms will work with the way Topeak flat rack arms attach to the rack itself.

My road/commuter bike is flat black with that same Topeak rack kielwb has, and the silver arms don't bother me at all.
