I made some changes since Saturday - wasn't happy with the long curve on the bar ends I was using as they brought the ends too close together in the middle. Pulled them off and replaced them with some less curved Origin8 ends - they're a little bent after years of use on an MTB but they're the right size and curve. The grips are Ergon GP2s.
Pretty happy with the setup right now, though I may put some straighter bar ends in the middle.
Here's a similar setup on my old Iron Horse. Origin8 curved bar, XLC short bar ends in the center (there's a small nub that they latch onto; wouldn't risk this for climbing, but great for stretching out and changing hand positions), and some generic bar ends on the outside.
The center ends on the Marin are almost level now; the ones on the Iron Horse are a little more upright.

II got the idea for the setup from someone in the "What did you do for your hybrid today?" thread. I had drop-bar ends (from Origin8) that I really wasn't using, so I moved things around.

Followed a local mtb group on a 20km trail passing close to a pretty waterfall. 20 km to the meeting place on asphalt and 20km back home. Unfortunately missed the entrance to the waterfall (I was alone at the moment and didn't know which way to go, but then saw a bunch of people going straight and just followed them. Little did I know that they didn't intend to stop by the waterfall... Oh well, now I'm familiar with the place so I'll go there by myself another time.

Those are some beautiful pics, looks like a nice area and quite to ride too. Though it’s a little to rural for me, I cannot be more than a few miles from a Taco stand.

This past weekend was the first time I had been back on a bike since I crashed a month ago and severely sprained my right ankle and chipped a bone in my elbow. I did an easy 16 miles with a friend on Saturday morning, and then opted for a longer 30 mile solo ride on Sunday. A new bike path that parallels a light rail commuter line is in the process of opening up that runs from my little city (Lewisville, TX) to Denton, TX that forms the northern tip of the Forth Worth - Dallas - Denton triangle. It was a great ride heading north, but then a brutal south wind kicked up after I reached Denton. I averaged 18mph heading north, and only 10mph heading south on the return. If the trains were running on Sunday, I would have been tempted to hop on one and ride home! All in all, the ankle and elbow held up fine, but fighting the wind completely wore me out for the rest of the day.
A few pics from my ride (including one that truly demonstrates the cardio workout I got on the ride home!). The Longhorn steer had the right idea!

Had a nice adventure with my Trek on the Shining Sea Bikeway Saturday. Perfect spring weather. Easy 22 mile roundtrip.

About 27 miles on the Delaware & Raritan Canal towpath. Ate lunch and turned around when I got to Princeton. A perfect ride!

Rode from Sunset Marina in Rock Island, IL. to Port Byron, IL. on the Great River Trail. A good part of this was part of the TourdeBrew which started in downtown Rock Island. The Marina is a few miles farther out, I parked there and road to the starting point. It was great day except for a pretty stiff breeze on the return leg. Took the newest addition to the herd, it was it's maiden voyage if you don't count a couple 5 mile test rides this week. 41.5 miles round trip. Doesn't sound like much I know but it's the farthest I've ridden since 1999. I'm almost 63 years old, have 2 bad knees, a good 40 Lbs. overweight and hadn't ridden more than 10-15 miles since late last Fall so I feel pretty good about it. Swapped out the Adamo Prologue in the picture for an Adamo Typhoon before the ride, the Typhoon is a bit wider and has just a little more padding, love this saddle! Going to have to work on bar position though, arms started getting numb about mile 30.

Beautiful photos everyone!!
Yesterday I took my Trek Hybrid out on the trails for the first time. I have only been on the road with my bike. I absolutely loved the scenery, and not worrying about vehicles! My hybrid has no suspension, so it was a little rough at times, but not too bad at all. I'll share a few pictures I took.

I love the East Bay bike path. We usually start at the Bristol end, ride to Borealis coffee. Relax with an iced coffee and ride back. 20 mile round-trip.

Just a bit over 30km today, about half asphalt, half dirt/gravel.
This heavily rutted 15% + grade with some very loose gravel made made me wish I had a lower gear and more traction.
Been seeing quite a few of these on the side of the road lately. Looked it up and apparently they're not venomous. Still wouldn't want to run one over.

Not today, but Thursday the 17th I rode my highly modified Raleigh Mountain Sport about 7 miles around the inside of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway thanks to a neighbor who gave me a free ticket for practice. It was the first time I had ever done that as they didn't allow bicycles until just a couple of years ago.
