So, I had a bad problem with my bike (actually two) right when I needed to leave for Critical Mass...strap from the pannier got stuck badly in my back wheel.
then I noticed my front brake wasn't working. It was buggered up somehow. I managed to remove the strap, jerry rigged the brake etc. CM was fun and ok. I was rolling back home, it was dark so I didn't see gravel/sand/??? on the road when I was turning onto a steep road... aieeee my bike skittered and I nearly crashed. I had images of prior crashes running through my head.

I have almost crashed a couple of times and I have no idea how I managed to stay upright.
Your cycling skills are just better than you think they are.

thanks, Cbad...some duder on a bike was rolling down the street I just turned onto, I nearly told him to watch out for the gravel/sand shenanigans on the corner but...I didn't.

I love the feeling of almost losing it. I hate the feeling of losing it though, so I try to avoid getting near that edge, but if I manage to hold it together when the front wheel slides, what a rush!
