Hello
Hi guys and gals, this is my first post after about a month of reading your very informative site. I will start by saying that I am looking at buying a bike to start getting back into shape on. When I first started this quest, I didn't really have much idea of how to go about it. I have to admit that one of the reasons I have been attracted to cycling is watching the Tour de France. That being said, I have no aspirations of being a bike racer. I am a 39 year old who is trying to quit smoking and wants to live a longer, healthier life for my 2 kids.
I think I have finally found the bike in my price range and abilbity. I am going to check out a used 2010 Specialized Sirrius Sport for $325. Is that a good price and is this a good bike to start on? Any input, good or bad is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Welcome to Bike Forums, Chris!
That sounds like a good price for the bike. I just bought a new base model Sirrus and I really like it. I use it for commuting to work.
Start out slow on the bike. Hopefully you can find a nice place without cars to ride with your kids.

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the input. I am really looking forward to going to look at this bike and if things work out, I will be riding come the weekend.

Just a quick update, last night I went and looked at the bike. After riding it for a little while (about 15 mins) I went ahead and bought it. I was able to talk the guy down to $300, so I feel like I made out ok. Looking forward to quitting time today so I can go get it out and get to know it better. Once again, thanks to all the folks on here because just reading the stuff you put on here helped me narrow down my choices. I'll keep you posted as I start logging miles.

you'll spend atleast that for what everyone here considers "necessities"
