He got banned. That was my saddest day on BF.

I PMed Tom after he got banned to see if he could be unbanned, but Tom said he'd been warned multiple times and he could not allow Rod back here. I was devastated, I always enjoyed seeing his pics here.

I love this area...Tyndall Air Force Base borders Mexico Beach...could ride for miles with no structure.

Love the shots of riding on the beach. I can't help but wonder though that the sand and salt must be brutal on the components and such, no?

Thanks.....It being a steel frame probably worries me the most. I used Yamaha Marine grease where ever I could put it in the frame...just put a sealed internal gear hub that has oil in it that I can change. I don't ride in the water. For the 1st time I sprayed the whole bike with heavy duty silicone lube just to see what it would do....as always I rinse it down and let it dry and keep it inside. I didn't realize it at the time I bought the bike that I could and would enjoy riding on the beach. Just gonna have to keep it lubed a little more than normal!

I couldn't help myself! All I wanted to do was see if that size tire would fit. Took em off my wife's Electra Amasterdam....been wanting to do it for a while. Definitely got to go for a ride in the morning after my little tune-up!

what you do with a steel frame is spray 'frame saver' inside it before you assemble it. this is a rust preventive that will line the tubes. then wax up the outside real nice with good grade car wax. THEN install the bottom bracket, shifters, headset, all the bits and cables and stuff.

Jacked up the seat for a ride!

PatrickGSR94 11-20-12 10:24 PM

ohhh haha I missed the "tire" in your post above. I read it as "I wanted to see what size would fit" and I was like, size of what?? :p

Well...after riding the Sawyer around my little town's rough roads with them Big Apples I'm thinking I may like some wider tires on the Kona. Those 40c's just barely fit...probably get 35 or 38's something. Was waxing my chain when I took the pic.

Here's my latest ride. In 3 days I should be officially cleared to ride it. I started a thread about it here. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...indoor-trainer

FarrrrrrOut, now that's a rig and a half. One day to go, then you can throw a leg over.

HOLY WHOA TALK ABOUT BRINGING BACK MEMORIES. I remember exactly where I was and what I was thinking when I posted that. And now that I've been to the area in which that picture was taken, I still believe the bike was being stolen. I miss Rod's pictures (most of you know him as qmsdc15). I wish he would be allowed to show his face here again

I'm mostly fine, thanks for asking! :) My elbow is still kind of ****ed up, but other than that I'm just fine. I got a pair of Castelli Endurance bibs and they are far superior to my Castelli Presto bibs that I crashed (but I still loved those shorts way more than should be socially acceptable ;)). But hey, now I have a fantastic pair of shorts for the trainer!

My fall was on Friday the 16th (the day after I got back from DC), and I got back on the bike on the following Sunday. What's that saying about a horse? You can lead a horse to water..... No wait that's not it. ;)

I got right back on that horse.
