Show me your hybrid-ized rigid mountain bikes!
I think the title says it all. Show me your vintage/old/generally rigid mountain bikes that are performing street duty.

Nice! Are the stem and bars one piece ('bull-moose" style)? The brake levers look like motorcycle levers. Many early mountain bikes did have motorcycle levers on them. I had Tomaselli levers on my 1986 Ross Mt. Hood (not stock).

Nice bike! I had drop bars on my Ross Mt. Hood before I put flat bars (and the Tomaselli levers on it).

I just whipped this one outa the shed the last time I rode it was about 20 years ago off course with the mandatory dust and cobwebs.
Its a genuine giant innova hybrid and would love to rebuild it.

This was one I had a few years back that now lives with my friend... this is an '85 Siera Grande with dual Apollo / Kuwahara branding and "Siera" is how it is spelled out on the top tube.

Fixed. Your obsession with bike building and spending money can't be broken. This can be next weekend's project.
I risked my life dodging redback spiders getting that out. All it needs is a front wheel and shifters to ride, every thing else is there or maybe I can get some vintage campagnolo components.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
I bought this grimy and dirty bike from a yard sale and after some hours of cleaning and polishing found this other bicycle underneath... it didn't have a scratch on it and virtually no wear to the drive train.
This was their top of the line bike in '84 (was an even nicer bike)and in '85 was close to their top model and was fitted with a full Deore Stag's Head group with a Deore cold forged crank and the beautiful Sansin high flange / Araya double walled wheels Kuwahara used on their better models.
This was about as nice a mountain bike you could buy in the mid eighties and was the last year friction derailleurs were used as in '86 Shimano introduced indexed shifters.

That Trek 8500 should be a rocket... these bikes just seem to want to go faster and faster but are so rigid that you really have to watch your tyre sizing and pressure lest you lose a few fillings.
Sold a similar Trek 7000 last fall and can see why they really blew the doors off the competition when they came out.
