Bianchi Camaleonte questions
What can you tell me about this brand? I have looked hi and low for reviews and info. I can't even find info or pics of the "Uno" model. Thanks for the help.

Uno means 1.
Do a search on Camaleonte 1 and you'll get a result:

Beautiful looking bike (as expecetd for an italian design). But seems a pretty basic setup from the looks of it.

$630
$20 riveted crank. $20 shifters. <$20 derailleurs. $15 cassette. Bottom end rims/hubs.........
It's a stylish frame with a bunch of cheap bits hanging on it. Definitely among the worst values I've seen in hybrids.

Camaleonte is the serial name for 3 different levels. The C5 has a frame combining alu and carbon (rear stays & front fork). It isnt "cheap" in any way carrying a mix of 105 group. Its a performance bike. The C2 and C3 are alu-bikes aiming at other consumer groups.

The Camaleonte Due is aimed directly at me.

The 105 equipped Cinque you mention doesn't appear to be in the Bianchi USA catalog. They show a Uno, Due, and Quattro, so there are at least four levels. I guess they skipped Tre in the naming sequence. I suppose you are paying extra for the name but they they don't seem outrageously overpriced to me.

I agree; the name can be hype or it can justify the extra dime. The Camaleontes has got good reviews over here - a trustworthy bike. The C5 is all about speed! But then again, the Cycleurope/Spectra conglomerate (with Bianchi in it) has its head office here in Sweden.

Bianchi Camaleonte 4 vs. Trek 7.5, Cannondale Quick 2 or Specialized Sirrus Elite
I saw the Bianchi Camaleonte 4 in a cool NYC bike shop called Zen. It was absolutely gorgeous and weighed almost nothing when I lifted it. It has a carbon fork. I was about to buy the Trek 7.5 but am now jolted by its looks and light weight. Does anyone know if its gears, brakes, etc. measure up to the Trek or the Quick 2 or the Sirrus Elite?
