Viking Bikes?
Hi,
First new thread (first post), but after a lot of searching and reading, I'm still stumped.
I'm over in Germany, and I'm looking to buy a hybrid.
I want 28" wheels, hydraulic discs, front suspension, a 55-59cm tall seat tube, and the possibility of mounting a rack and fenders — if I'm making a mistake or missing something here, please don't hesitate to set me straight.
My LBS sells Merida bikes, and I'm looking at the "Crossway 100-D," which would cost about $675-750:
https://www.merida-bikes.com/en_int/b...Crossway+100-D
The other bike I'm looking at is a Viking Urban Platinum, which could be had for a bit more than $500 from Amazon.de:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Viking-Urban.../dp/B004X5KRBK
I know that Merida and Viking are virtually unknown in the States, but they're pretty well established brands over here...
Could some of you guys look at the specs of these and tell me what's what?
Do these seem like appropriate components at this price point?
Is there anything substandard/unacceptable here?
Thanks in advance...

As far as I'm aware, Viking used to be a reputable English brand until they seized trading. The name was then bought by (i think) an Irish outfit. These days they are a budget brand, not known for quality. Opinions on the web appear to range from 'cheap and cheerful' to 'bike shaped objects'.
