2009 Trek 7.9 fx

I wouldn't be that quick to pass this by: is it genuinely 'new' old stock (i.e. not a demo etc), is it in fact a full-carbon 7.9FX, and is your bike shop a Trek dealer? If yes to all, then 1699 is high-ish, but not outrageous, and there might be room to negotiate? The full-carbon FX is now (2012) discontinued, I think (?), so if you love/want the bike and it's the right size, might be worth a closer look?

It is the right size and I did know they are discontinued. My bike shop is a trek dealer and its been there for a while. I'm looking for a bike for my son and haven't even talked to him about it. I may have him test ride it and go from there.

If it is indeed new then 1,699.00 is a great price unless you can get someone to give you one for free or you can find a mint condition used one. Fantastic bike.

I wanted a 7.9 fx and it is discontnued so I bought a 2012 fx 7.7 and I am loving this bike like no other I have ever owned...
1,500 is a very good deal on a new 7.9

If it is decent shape, hell yes it's a good price. Mine is two years old, have put 6,200 miles on it including more than a dozen rides of 100 miles of more, and love it. But comfort improved with a Brooks saddle that I purchased beginning of this year. Paid $2400 new and had to wait a couple of weeks to get it. I actually think Trek could have sold more if dealers would stock the bike, or at least keep a demo on the floor. I bought mine from a well established Trek Store, they would not put one in stock because they were afraid of its limited rider appeal. I have really enjoyed the bike, but am moving on to the world of trikes. Waiting on delivery of a 2011 ICE Vortex.
