Moto bikes?
How good are they? I really like the look of the cafe late.

You're going to get mixed responses when you ask about any Bikes Direct stuff here... some people love them and have had good experiences with them, others hate them for any number of reasons.
Bottom line: they're not that bad quality, the prices are hard to beat, and they will likely need an adjusting/tuneup when you get it. There are a few reports of their bikes coming with bad paint, but I haven't heard of that many.
The BikesDirect bikes are basically cheap enough that you could strip all the components off of them, throw the frame away, and it'd still be worth the money. As long as you know somebody who can tune them up (hint hint!) you'll be fine.

Based on what I've read from the reviews (BD bikes in general), they tend to be not held in as high regard as what's offered at Walmart or Sears.....

I seriously got excited when I saw this thread as I thought it was going to be about the real / original Moto-Bike. Sadly it's not.

Boy looks like I hit a Sore spot like a funnybone!!! Its amazing the different opinion on BD and WM bikes. I ride a 6year old abused Wal-mart MG MT bike XR-75, and the thing is great to me. I just want more of an performance Hybrid without shocks for Rode riding. Of corse the Gears and brakes suck and always needs adjusting, But its the perfect Cane field bike. I got over 160miles on it and counting.

Chacka - On my quest to find a nice hybrid, I met with a guy selling a Motobecane Cafe Noir. It was a little too expensive for my blood, but the components are nice (Shimano 105.)
I discovered I really wanted an aluminum frame, but the Cafe Noir is Chromoly.

To the OP. Say what you will about the virtues of buying locally, supporting bike shops, and the level of service you are likely to recieve from a bike shop as compared to a mail order company. I'm all about it.... I would never try and talk anyone out of that, but for someone to post that BD bikes or Motobecane bikes are akin to bikes you will find at wall mart is just wholeheartedly untrue. I have not seen that sentiment here on these forums by other than a few who have never seen a Moto in person.
I have several bikes, an older Cannondale Team Replica mountain bike, a Fuji Cross RC cross bike, and a Moto Fantom Cross Pro. The Motobecane is a fine bike! It is slightly heavier than my Redline Conquest Pro was but it's not too noticeable.
As has been mentioned before in other threads you may want to be handy with a wrench if you get ANY mail order bike because it is very likely that you will have to do some tweaking.
Good luck!

I went to a LBS saturday and checked out the TREKS. I looked at a 7.2 it was nice just don't think worth 550.00. They had a nice 7.7 suped up that I'm sure had to be 2500$ or more. Wish they would have had a 7.3/7.4. They a all close to the same. Salesman was not to helpful. I will check out another bike shop.

That's not even real mileage there ... 160 miles is just working things in and after about that distance your bike should be even better than brand new.
To give you some comparison ... my hybrid has been without any gear or brake adjustments (other than simply tightening the brake cable as pads wear out) for about 2000 miles now.
