Gonna become a roadie soon! I'm still in the process of convincing my parents (I have half of the money), but I'm pretty sure I'm ordering this next week: https://www.performancebike.com/weba...ey=https:Logoff
...A 2011 Fuji Roubaix 1.0. It has full 105 components and I test rode a 52cm one yesterday. It was a little bit big, so I'll have to order the next size down; 49cm. The sale ends on Sunday, so I think I'll go in on Sunday and order it (provided that I get my parents on board). $1000 for full 105 components (except for the brakes) seems like a good deal to me. What do you guys think?

That is a fine deal on that Fuji.
I bought a Trek 2.1 this morning. It is my third new bike this year.

Radagast the Beige-and-Black is a "comfort hybrid."
Orion is a hybridized Bianchi Premio road bike.
The Black Pearl is a Trek Allant, which they call a commuter.

This roadie was stolen 3 weeks ago. It is a 2011 Giant Defy 2. It was only 9 months old. I'm still smokin' mad but in a way they did me a favor. The bottom gear was way to tall and I had evolved this bike into a commuter, effectively killing a sleek road bike.
Right after it was stolen, I decided I would buy a Hybrid to commute with and I made no bones about making it a full blown commuter. I refer to it as my pick-up truck bike. It is a 2012 Giant Escape 1. It is 2 weeks old. Here it is fully outfitted as a duty bike.
Well, now that I have a duty/pick-up truck bike I had to have, within reason, a sports car bike. I haven't taken pictures yet because I've been tuning it all day for a 50 or 60 miler tomorrow but here is a picture from the Trek web site. It is an awful picture because it is actually a beautiful bicycle. Here is a copy of my brand new 2012 Trek 2.1 Apex. 3 new bikes in a year. It's really just a fluke of circumstances and I'll never have those bragging rights again but now that I have a truck/bike, I can leave this one fast and sleek.
That's it for new bikes for awhile.

I have successfully convinced my parents that this bike is a good investment and it will last more than through college. I'm going in within the hour to order the bike and get some road shoes! With the team performance credits I get, I will buy pedals, bottle cages, and a computer when I go in to pick up the bike.

IF you talk really nice I'm guessing the pedals could be tossed into the deal. Don't count out SPD pedals if you do serious dirt riding on another bike or live in a place where exploring off road from your bike is possible like where I live.
I'm really happy for you. That's a fine starter for sure.

It did a fine job on its maiden outing today. I just have to work on the butt part. 40 miles today. 2500 feet elevation change.

No pictures but I have a old Huffy single speed coaster brake "beach cruiser" I think it is the "Key Largo" version, with fenders, a 1989 KHS Montana Summit mountain bike with the factory team blue and hot pink pain scheme that I've upgraded a bit for use as a touring bike, and a Vertical PK-7 full suspension mountain bike (on sale at Target a few years ago for $88.00. Even has an aluminum main frame)
My Hybrid is a 2003 Giant Cypress DX.

Did you tell your folks that you still expect a little something for your birthday? Maybe you should save that one for after you bring the bike home.
I've been using a GPS on my bikes but I'm thinking of getting a bike computer. My new bike has a cutout on the inner fork for stealth installation of a sensor for a hidden wireless install. I thought that was pretty cool.
Remember, if there are no pictures, it didn't happen.

Yeah yeah, finally completed my rain / snow / whatever bike today. My brother grinded the teeth off the outer ring and gave me his old pedals. I adjusted the rear derailleur to 7 speed to avoid the chain skipping off the inside. Therefore it's a 7 x 1 now and runs well.

You could be right. This bike is a lot of fun.
So far I haven't ridden or looked over my Cannondale since I got back from Australia on Sunday. While we were over there, Kyoto copped incredible gusts and most of our bikes were knocked over. The Cannondale wasn't, but jammed up against the letterbox. I should have put it inside before we went on the holiday, but because this isn't typhoon season, I thought it'd be fine. Wrong!

This is what my bike looks like to me right now. I'm getting it tomorrow!!
I'm considering getting a pair of these in red to match the frame and getting some white Fizik microtex tape. What do you guys think?

Well I think that is a pretty darn fair likeliness of a Fedex tracking notice if I don't mind saying so myself. Doh!

I personnaly wouldn't change the hoods or tape just yet. I'd ride it for a while and see what you think. How close are the two reds? (hood and frame)
