Skinny Tire more puncture resistant?
Pardon what may be a dumb question but is it true that a skinner tire is more resistant to punctures? Example: a 32c tire is better than a 38c tire.

I guess that makes sense... Smaller tire=less surface area=less rubber that could be punctured.

It's not so much the width of the tire, but more about the amount of air inside the tire. A skinny road tire has a higher psi value, a mtb tire has a lower psi value. You'll flat more often with a skinny tire that is underinflated than you will with a mtb one, if that makes any sense. A skinny tire also tends to be lighter and use thinner rubber than mtbs as well.

Knobby mountain bike tires lift the vulnerable part of the tire up off the ground further. Treads have thicker rubber that provides some protection. Skinny tires generally have neither. Assuming the same type of tire I noticed no difference in the frequency in flats on 700x35 and 700x25 tires.
That being said, the best way to deal with punctures is to buy more puncture resistant tires of which there is no shortage of choices.

What is the advantage to tubeless tires. LBS told me had to carry a tube anyway to fix flat. Are they talking about all flats on just ones on the road?

The wiki on tubeless tires. Good for off road, but sucks for the road.
