They're both are very good bikes. Can't go wrong with either. I like the Trek 7.6 FX, because it has a 10 speed cassette and has thinner tires (25mm). What I don't like about the Trek 7.6 FX is the 11-36t cassette. What I like about the Specialized is the 12-26t cassette and a 52/42/30 chain rings.
If it was me. I would rather go for the specialized Sirrus Comp and put some 25mm tire on it, but that just me. Can't go wrong with either.

Ummm ... absolutely impossible for anyone on here to give you any meaningful comment without more information (about you, the bikes, your intended use of the one you buy).

Yeah, the 11-34 cassette on my FX is the suck. The spacing between the gears is very large. I went on my first long ride today with my new road bike which is 50/34 and 11-28 and it's not much different than the triple 52/42/30 12-25 I've been riding. I think that's one of the flaws of the FX series: cassettes with too widely spaced gears. I'm not sure how small a cassette you can use. I'm either going to sell my hybrid or replace the cassette.
