I use my trek 7.5 mostly for commuting, but I do some longer rides after work and on the weekends. It seems like I want to get a really flat position on some of the rides. Has anyone seen aerobars on a hybrid? I'm not sure the geometry will work. It seems like my knees would make contact of the bars?

Are you talking about, "drop bars" or "aero bars"?? Can't see aero bars hitting your knees? You can also buy a pair of Origin 8 "long" bar ends and put them almost straight out like I do to get a more "aero" position. They are usually less than $20.00 at your LBS, I like to think of them as "pursuit bars". FYI, YMMV.

It should be doable. My LBS has mentioned putting aero bars on a Trek Navigator, and I've considered them for my Trek DS. Ultimately it'll all be in the setup, you may not be able to get quite as aero as a TT or a road bike, but more aero then you can get now shouldn't be too crazy.

BTW I'm looking at them for an alternate body/hand position for longish rides more than an aero thing, which apparently is what the Navigator owner was going for as well.

I also can't really see them hitting your knees.

It seems that if were to get into an aero position then my elbows would be hitting my legs in the quad area.

I'll have to defer to aero bar owners but from bikes I've seen with them in use, you the don't seem to have problems with hitting knees. You might just check out your question with a local LBS, I'm sure they can figure it out to your satisfaction, jmho, ymmv.

My elbows are well away from my knees with my Profile Design Jammer GT aerobars. My forearms just ahead of my elbows sit on the pads.
