While the Escape City does offer a tremendous value as an out of the box commuter, you need to ride them both. There's just something about the Escape's geometry that feels a little 'off' to me, whereas the Specialized Sirrus and the new 2013 Trek 8.1 DS were more like 'wow' or 'whoa' vibes.

I rode the Escape 1 yesterday and I was impressed. I was surprised how comfortable and smooth the ride was on those skinny tires. Also, I agree I think it is a good deal. If I had the money I would buy one and just use it as a road bike. That being said, I haven't tried the Trek.

I just got a specialized sirrus, I love it, you may want to give it some thought.

The Escape City is a tremendous buy for the money. The SRAM Via group is actually very nice.

Congrats on your new bike. The Escape was in my final list of bikes as well, but I decided to go with the Coda Sport....mostly because I liked the dealer better. Enjoy your new ride...the Escape is a nice looking and riding machine.
