Need an upgrade from 2011 Diamondback Insight 3 [Budget <$900]
See previous thread HERE.
I am looking to upgrade from my previous bike, as I don't have it anymore. I have the funds now, and school will begin soon. I would like something that shifts quicker and is a bit lighter, or around the same weight as my previous Insight 3 (which I got on BikeNashbar for ~$450 on sale. I've been looking at these:
2012 Podium 2 (Tiagra)
2012 Podium 3 (105)
2013 Interval (Tiagra)
2013 Interval Elite (105)
From looking at them, the Podium 3 and Interval Elite look STARKINGLY similar. As if they are the same version of bike...
So I'm looking at saving money as much I can. I also want the best; so in combination, I want the best for my buck (I'm a starving college student )
tl;dr: Quick shifting; similar if not better weight than Insight 3; best bang for buck
Need to buy within a WEEK, so please feel free to tear apart my suggestions.
Update: Saw THESE. Too good to be true? If they aren't, please recommend me a great bike. Don't care about color (unless it's absolutely hideous). Was specifically looking at the 105 and Ultegra sections. Why are they SO CHEAP?

I'm in the same boat as you. I was looking at these bikes as well. My only issue is the 21" size of the Interval. I really need a 23" equivalent. I didn't want to go full road and I thought the Interval would be a great mix of the two. Good luck with your decision.

There are various reasons why BD can sell 'em cheaper than the LBS.
-You have to figure out the sizing on your own... hope that the geo info is even remotely accurate.
-Though it comes mostly assembled, you either have to finish putting it together yourself or pay the LBS- which eats away at the savings.
-If a part is missing or damaged when you take it out of the box, it's time to contact Customer Service and wait for a replacement before you can start riding.
-You have to do all the fine tuning for fit or again, pay the LBS.
-All the adjustments and service are on you as well... see a pattern here?
BD is false value for someone new, lacks tools, or no wrenching skills of their own.

When I had my first bike, I assembled it, tuned it, and had all the tools to adjust it. I still do. So I assume Bikes Direct is fine for me? If so, what bikes would you recommend?
