Also commonly sold as a luggage scale. I've had one for years, I've used it for backpack weights, luggage, etc.

I put my 2015/2016 8.6 DS on it the day I brought it home. 28lb 2oz including the nylon webbing strap I used to hang it with (1oz).

That there is a variance in the weights;some will be a few grams higher, some lower. This is also true for many other components used on bikes;saddles, grips, even the frames since it's possible one could have a touch more weld or a bit more paint than another. So if you were to weigh every single 20" Trek FX 7.2,you'd find that some were a bit lighter than others. Combine this with the fact that if you carefully read the manufacturers' websites, you'll see that they note that the specifications are subject to change without notice, and you'll see that it would be impossible for manufacturers to give accurate weights for all their models.
Here's a revolutionary ideal! Take the first 5 "mediums", 54 cm, pick a size, off the production line produced to said spec on website. Weight said five. Add said five weights together, and divide the number by five. Post resulting number as average weight. Call it good for the year. Hell, do this for unpainted frames, and I'm good.

See, that wasn't so hard was it?

You have dimensions for every other aspect of the frame, you certainly to have the have the average weight too. Otherwise you can not know how much metal and other materials you are going to have to purchase. Plus you need to know the shipping costs, which means you know the weights. No company is going to give the green light on production without knowing the "Bill of Materials", labor, and shipping. And that means they know the weights too.

Everything else is just smoke screen.

If anyone believes what excuses the bike manufacture's come up with for not publishing approximate weights of complete bikes, then they must be crazy.
Plus it would be allot harder sale job for that $3K carbon frame bike that is 3 pounds lighter. Of that $500 groupset "upgrade" that is 4 ounces lighter.
