My whole bike was built up from scratch just how I wanted it. Though I've spread out some of my components because of extra bikes since building the JBC it's not quite as high spec as it once was, but to save money it's a sacrifice I needed to make

I've missed seeing the JBC rig. Still looks sensational.

Back on track...

OP thanks for the thread

So far here is what I've done to my bike:
  • Upgraded from 10-speed 6770 Di2 to 11-speed 6870 Di2
  • Added Bontrager Saddle bag
  • Added Profile Designs Aquarack
  • Added 2 Camelbak water bottles
  • Added Shimano D Fly snesor for Di2
  • Added Specialized Keg Storage Vessel that holds a tube, tools, Co2 and a patch kit. It mounts in a standard water bottle cage
  • Added Frame mounted pump for emergency situations.
  • Added Ultegra A600 SPD pedals
  • Added a Magellan Cyclo 505 computer

Next month I am going to upgrade my brakes. The bike came stock with Axis 2.0 but I am going to put Ultegra 6800 brakes on it. After that? Who knows..

Here it is again.. I love it!

I am trying to decide whteher to buy a 2013 Sirrus Limited SL4 or wait to get a 2015 Pro Carbon. I can get a 2013 Limited SL4 at a pretty good discount. Based on your postings, it appears you are very happy with your decision. Do you have any advice? (I would have sent you a private message, but I do not have enough posts)

There are a few of the Limited SL4's left but not many as Specialized only made 300 of them.. If they have one left in your size buy it as fast as you can! MSRP on the bike was 5k but I scored it for 3K..

It's an amazing bike and comes stock loaded to the hilt with plenty of S-Works parts mixed into it.

I'd be more than happy to discuss the bike with you further..

Ok, I decided to post some of the "hybrid" bikes (flatbar road bikes) here in Kyoto used for racing. You may be able to get some "upgrade" ideas from what the fast guys ride.
They have their own category and not sanctioned by the UCI...

I am pretty sure those are all racing road bikes with flat bars put on them... not actual hybrids.

Well that is misleading, calling them Hybrids. A road bike is a road bike, no matter what kind of handlebars you stick on it.

Try telling the guys on the 41 that. I'm sure you'll find Flat-bar road bikes are welcome on the hybrid forum.

EDIT...BTW, here in Japan we don't have a category of bikes called "hybrid"

My hybrid is used primarily as a commuter (I have a road bike and a MTB too), so the upgrade I made recently is better lighting: Shimano dynohub, B&M IQ Cyo Premium and Toplight Line Plus. I'm very pleased with it and think it's definitely worth it if you ride at night frequently.

If you are buying the TT bars for the race, I'm sure you won't be permitted to ride. In that case, the drop bar ends.

the first one are aero bars, and the second are bar ends. They do different things and ride differently, but I know folks who really like the aero bars for long rides. If you can go to an LBS where you can perhaps try them out?

Surprising isn't it? Here in Kyoto every bike shop uses them, and I have one in my back yard with 4 bikes on it. I worry though if a typhoon comes lol

Several of the local clubs around here have those kind of racks that they use for the charity rides they do... they are nothing fancy. Just a simple metal bar that you hang the bike from with the seat. The LBS shops that do mobile support and repairs use them too, they are much easier to move around and transport then the kind that rest on the ground.

The rails get scratched and one should never hang a carbon railed saddle from them. I have one saddle with carbon rails and there was a special notice in the box advising the dangers.

Im pretty sure there are no regulations for this event. Here is the site Home I feel like the TT bars would help me more.
