Winter Riding
Getting back into biking and this time around devoting myself to hybrids.
How many of you in real winter states ride during the winter? Do you put the bikes away?
Love to hear your feedback.

I live in Minneapolis and, yes, I put my bike away when daylight savings time ends. Too cold; sun has set before I leave work; road bike tires are positively dangerous on frozen pavement, even if it's free of snow.
I took a look at fat tire bikes, but cost of bike + cost of winter gear for riding + lack of enjoyment from being bundled up in a snowsuit = lack of interest.

Nope.. When the roads Ice Over , I get out my Bike with the studded tires on the wheels ..Now in its 21st season ..
Other times, it's just Raining, and sometimes Windy.
Both Schwalbe and Suomi-Nokian make great studded tire in 35 wide-700c and 2" wide 26" , from Germany and Finland .

Winter is relative. I imagine your hybrid will work just fine depending on where you call home. An older well-built used mountain bike is usually ideal (the 30-60 dollar from the local bike co-op kind).
You may (will) want to get some lights, warm clothes, fenders, and possibly studded tires. You don't really have to do anything else special until you start dropping down into the consistent -10 to -20F range, and then it's mostly just a matter of making sure the pawls in the freehub aren't going to start sticking by going to a lube with a wider temperature range.

could just move to florida and suffer threw another winter with the rest of us. winter day here is cloudless skies with day highs in the 60's brrrrrr. winter down here doesn't really last for more than a day or two before going back to a normal high in the 70's.
tip the hat to all the warriors living in that cold hell above the Florida, Georgia line.

Just arrived today, was able to ride for an hour and 15 mins while watching a movie, could check my phone and had ice water within reach...not a bad thing to resort to in the winter!
