Bikes: Schwinn Cimmeron

New from Dassel...........

I just found the forum and it really looks good. My wife ,Jo and I moved to Dassel, MN from North Dakota just after Christmas. I have a Schwinn Cimmeron which I haven't ridden in more than 15 years, but tonight, even though I'm pushing "Geezer" status (I'll be 66 in August) I went for a 1 hour,10 mile bike ride and it felt GREAT. I think I'm back on my bike to stay. Looks like Minnesota has some really good places to ride. I hope to make some friends here and learn a lot from all of you. Besides riding bike, I like outdoor photography, Ham radio, I play banjo and mandolin, blacksmithing, fly fishing and....well that's enough babble. But I'll be here often to learn. Mike

Welcome to Bike Forums, MM!

If your Schwinn has been sitting for that long, you should replace the old dried up grease for all of the bearings.

Welcome to BF, Minnesota, glad that you are rediscovering cycling. As CB400bill said, at a 10 year layoff for the bicycle, the bearings, cables and tires/tubes need to be checked and possibly replaced/re-greased. Makes things safer and easier to ride when it all is in the green.

Come over to the 50+ Forum, too, lots of us there that returned after layoffs for various reasons.https://www.bikeforums.net/fifty-plus-50/

Bill

welcome to the forum...yep check out the over 50 forum...you will find that a mere 10 year lay off is nothing....some of us did not ride for 30 to 40 years and are loving it again.
