Howdy do from the Shenandoah Valley

New rider in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. Just got my Trek Crossrip Elite and have been using it for commuting and the town trails. I hope to try out cyclocross in the fall and touring next summer, and now I also want to buy a mtb. Yay for spending money. I've already learned a lot here on these forums.

I've had in on some singletrack and quite a bit of gravel. You would want different tires if you plan on riding in muddy conditions, albeit these ones do fine. They are pretty solid on the gravel as well. It's a great "gravel-grinder," I think, and we have lots of gravel around here. I love the suicide brake levers and the disc brakes, and it's got good speed. If you want to race, I would go with the Crockett or Kona, though. I run with full fenders and rear rack and panniers, and it has the mounts for front racks as well, which I plan on using, and it isn't the lightest bike. But the Crockett and Kona I have heard better things about racing specs.
