Hello to all!
Hello everyone.
Let me introduce myself. I haven't rode a bike in a few years, but I loved it when I did. It seems I can't find a bike that feels right and doesn't hurt my shoulder so bad. I have never done bicycling other than fun or as transportation. I grew up watching bicycling on television, and seeing the riders on the Mother's Day ride.
I am an anthropology student who will be graduating later this year with two BAs. I am currently in the Language, Culture and Communication class, and I am learning how language is used to communicate ideas. I am assigned to find a sub-culture to observe and learn from. Unless there is any major objections, I would like to observe, question when needed, and learn from this group how a culture can make their own lingo, have icons that carry meanings (such as with brand markings), or even form an hierarchy, in which different types of bikers garner more respect like a professional rider compared to a mother riding down the sidewalk with her children, etc.
I will not be collecting or reporting information from anyone under 18.
I will not be reporting any personal identifying information.
Types of info in the report might be word maps, word pronunciation info, history of biking language, etc.
I hope that I will be welcomed by this community as I work to finish my education.

Thank you
And just so everyone knows, the above link is to my pre-professional portfolio. It does not collect any information. It is a perfectly safe link.

Thank you. I am learning quite a bit here, like don't expect every bike to be okay for use. I am going to look into it, thank you.
