New Cyclist From the Inland Northwest

45 year old male, just started riding a road bike last March. I promptly broke my shoulder in April so then took a month off the bike to heal. I mostly ride back and forth to work and a few rides on the weekends with my wife. We bought our bikes together so I'm lucky that we have an activity that we enjoy together (for the most part).

I have 3 boys 16, 12, 6. I also enjoy basketball and skateboarding. I run mostly during the winter, but I don't like it. Last year I weighed 295lbs so I use the running to lose weight. I'm down almost 70 at this point, I want to be lighter so I can be faster on the bike.

I enjoy riding solo for the most part and then with my wife next. I tried a few group rides and enjoyed that some, but don't fit in too well with groups. I'm enjoying riding around my city and don't shy away from hills. I can go pretty fast downhill from my background in snow skiing, and I seem to pick up speed at a rapid rate due to my ****** and the beauty of gravity.

I have an very difficult time putting the disparate and scattered thoughts from my mind into words through talking or writing. So I apologize in advance for some weird and probably not very well put together posts with obscure and stupid references that are probably off-topic.

Welcome aboard, no judgements here, just pull up a bike saddle and make yourself at home.

Hey SnoryCewton,
I am new to this forum and saw that you are from Spokane. I live on the north side. How's the cold weather been treating you? Sure puts a damper on riding.

Ugh, it sure does. And welcome to the forum. This place is a wealth of information, I've been lurking and searching a lot. But yes, the weather! I have a felling we're gonna get hit pretty hard this year, it won't all melt during the first weeks of January like last winter.

I did however finally get hooked up with Zwift. I'd like to maintain some bike fitness throughout the winter. Zwift is actually pretty cool, not too much work to get setup.

Again, welcome and maybe I'll see you out on the roads in the Spring.

I brought my Air-Dyne to work to ride when I can't get out for a lunch time walk. Keeps the blood moving.
