Hi from North California
Hi! Just joined the forum this morning. Seems like there's tons of information. I feel like I need to get my post count higher so that I can post without moderators having to approve my posts. I wonder how long that takes?
I'm in the SF Bay Area and currently ride a Specialized bike passed down a couple decades ago from my aunt. I think it's a mountain bike. I just moved within 5 miles of work via a nice paved trail so I'm planning on bike commute a lot more now, along with my husband. No kids yet but we have two guinea pigs.

Welcome to Bike Forums. Bike commuting is great fun and a great way to get in extra miles during the week.

Welcome aboard, LadyGP. Not sure how many posts it takes to clear the moderation approval hurdle. Shouldn't be many more for you to be posting immediately. Look around the various forums and find the ones that fit your cycling interests.

Welcome to BF! Is your Specialized perhaps an old Rockhopper or Stumpjumper? Those were great bikes, and can make excellent commuters.

Thanks everyone! It says "Hardrock" on the top, and it seems like Specialized still sells a model of mountain bike with this name! My husband's bike is also an older mountain bike (Novara Alight) and both are a little wonky. I'm sure a little TLC could make are rides much smoother, but we both wanted to change to bikes more suited to what we actually ride.
