Newbie - LetsRoll - Santa Ana River Trail

I'm new,

I like to ride the Santa Ana River Trail after work. Will I get in trouble riding the trail between 7PM and 9PM?

Night rider!

I'm 50, been riding for a while. I average about 17 mph on the trail. My goal is to ride 5 days per week 3 days during the week and 2 days on the weekends. I like to to ride from the golf corse to the ocean during the week and I'm open on riding on the weekend.

Well, there's like 70 miles of trail, so what part of it you're riding will likely make a difference. I know from experience that the northern end isn't just unlit, it's miles from lights of any kind-- so you better have a proper headlight. Watch for homeless traffic, for sure.

Welcome to Bike Forums!

As this is the Introductions forum where your supposed to introduce yourself, you'll not likely get many responses to your inquiry. I suggest asking about the trail in our Southern California regional forum. Southern California - Bike Forums

Thanks for the reply. Sometimes I forget just how big the trail is.

I like to ride from Anaheim Stadium (Garden Grove Blvd.) to Hunington Beach. That's my route. It's about 12 miles to the ocean. Makes for a nice ride, and there is nothing like seeing the ocean. It always relaxes me.

I see other people riding with night lights; however, the trails officail hours are to close at 6 PM. That would not give me enough time to ride to the ocean and back after a day of work.

I would like to see them develop more night riding, in the safer areas. The trail is a fantasic idea that needs to be expanded.

Hi&welcome

I've been going up and down that trail (I ride from Fullerton) for awhile at all hours
but no ones stopped me from cruising past closing time...yet
Just stay lit and you should be fine
