New from central FL
Howdy. I'm new to cycling, just picked up a vintage road bike for my commute to work, save some gas money, get some exercise to combat this inevitable aging, and to simply breath more air and connect with nature. May have some questions on how-to's and perhaps some equipment recommendations. Hope you all have a great day.

Welcome! Central Florida as well (Orlando).
Made my welcome thread as well. I have been lurking for some time and decided to post now that I am getting closer to buying something.
And yes, 10 post minimum before posting photos or urls... oh well...

Welcome to Bike Forums.
Stop by the Southeast Regional subforum and say hello to the locals. Lots of central FL folks on here.

Bikes: Schwinn Solara road bike
Hello, also new to the forum, & from Central Florida, though I'm not new to cycling. I've built several brand new bikes piece by piece, & have repaired & custom painted 5 or 6 used bikes over the years as well. My last bike (which I wish I still had) was a 1978 Schwinn road race bike that I bought from a LBS, & modified into a 12 speed commuter bike, but that was stolen 19 years ago
I've since added about 45 pounds & am wanting to get back into fitness rides to accelerate my weight loss... I've dropped 30 pounds in 5 years & wanting to drop another 30 in no more than 2 more years.
I'll primarily be riding the Van Fleet Trail out of Polk City which I used to do on inline skates, & hope to make it to the end (Mabel Trailhead - 58 miles round trip) by the time fall sets in.
