Hello from Norway
Hello!
I have been lurking these forums for a while, but finally decided to register.
Im 34 years old and live in Norway. I havent been "into" bicycles for that long really, a few years only. The interest is still growing quickly =) As so many else I fell in love with the aestethics of the good old racing and/or road bikes. I got hold of a 1980 Diamant (Norwegian brand) road bike/touring racer and I was sold. It rode (and still do mind you) so smooth! With its Champion #5 frame its pretty low end compared to real racers, but hey, I really like to ride it. Actually I have another one exactly the same now. Both 100% original with exactly the same components, allthough the paint was a desaster and the decals were torn and/or missing. I own two more bikes: a 1980 Nishiki Competition and a Peugeot PH11 (I think, gonna have to do some research on that one, havent used it much yet) modified to a singlespeed "city cruiser". I can post some pics later on when Im allowed to by the forums.
Ive just started to really get into the technical aspects, and wow, its alot to learn =)

Welcome DR, you found a real niche there with those racers, I like to restore old bikes myself and have found the forum an excellent resource for just that. Enjoy the ride.

Thanks! I´m sure the forums will be really helpful indeed! They already have
Here are some pics of the bikes, minus the Peugeot. The Diamant bikes are repainted by me as the original paint was, as mentioned, a mess. The decals are just something I slapped on, looks cool on the wine red one though =) From the top of my head they are Champion #5, Mavic, Dia Compe and Suntour. Can be more specific if anyone should be wondering sometime.
The Nishiki is a 1980 model, near mint. Really nice ride.

Welcome darkreaver. Du burde oppdatere din profil slik at alle brukere her ser hvilke sykler du eier (og bruker) Looks like you got some nice vintage rides there. Weird seeing those gear shifters sitting on the bike frame. My cousin has an old "Daves" roadbike with the very same design. Really awkward riding that thing. So how exactly do you go about obtaining spares for bikes that old? Bjørn 37, Ålesund
